Any truth to the claims that the latest firmware is causing Mamba Pro units to go up in smoke? I know someone that personally had this happen, and read about it happening to others.

I'm very hesitant to upgrade my Mamba Monsters because of this.

Haven't heard anything about Mamba Pro, and I check the boards regularly -- Mamba Max had a glitch where the new software would make the on-board USB stop working -- but that software was fixed right away.

That's it. This newest version stop the "hesitation" that some setups were seeing when using torque limiting.

Thanx!

Patrick

I have not tryed the torque control yet, But the 3.26 castle link and the v. 1.29 mamba revision is working great on my mamba max.

One question on the torque control, Do you need to hook up a battery to the esc to do the kv check? I'd like to try the torque control but not sure what i need to do to activate it

One more thing, Big shoutout to castle's support. They sent me a castle link at no charge to fix my mamba max after i lost the usb due to the first update in this thread. Due to the support i got, My next esc will be a castle mamba.

Crazy -- yes, you need to hook up a battery so the ESC can do the Kv check. Thanx!

Were there any updates for the MMM with V1.29? I don't see anything for the MMM in the update logs.

1.29 Beta 08/12/10
Bug Fix: Mamba Max Pro ROAR spec class neutral LED flash did not work on V1.26/V1.27.
Bug Fix: Mamba Micro Pro/Sidewinder Micro did not go to full throttle
Bug Fix: Some controllers did not require the user to recenter the stick after an overtemp condition
Bug Fix: Improved startup performance for some applications. Reverted to parameters from firmware V1.26.

Bug Fix: Data logging ESC's could make an audible click during the log write cycle
Feature: RED led will flash if excessive voltage detected

Yea that's what I saw on Castle's site too. So no bugfixes for the MMM? :(

What MMM bugs are you waiting for a fix? I wasn't aware of any real issues on the MMM.

The torque control changes (fixing the hesitation and startup) applied to all Mamba ESCs (including the MMM.)

Thanx!

Patrick

That's great to hear! I'm off to Holland this weekend to get some practice on the track for the next so I'll keep V1.21 until then. Just to be sure I won't run into problems. I'll try it on our club track next week. However most of the tracks are very high grip astro turf and this seems a bad place to test the torque control :p
I'll try it when the track is wet!

Aww man Patrick, I was enjoying that feature as it was. Is there a way of having a "secret code" to unlock it so that we can look at the motor Kv on the current software version?

snellemin 08.18.2010 11:42 AM

Why not just add a motor pole selector and keep the motor rpm visible? Kinda what MGM Compro has.

Simple and effective

nitrostarter 08.18.2010 01:18 PM

Newbie calls CC Tech: Umm yes, hello. Can you tell me what pole my motor is?
CC Tech: What motor are you running?
Newbie: A black one...
