The 1717 is a great Muggy motor. I wasn't able to get mine to mesh with my 13T pinion so I had to put my 16T pinion. According to the gearing calc that's over 60 MPH on 6s lipo and the power was insane, never got enough traction to wheelie but it would accelerate like it's hair was on fire! The hottest ambient temp I ever ran it in was around 10 above and the motor never warmed up enough to be noticeable (in that weather, that's kinda DUH! though). Come Summer time I expect it will be a great motor for those of us with big, heavy trucks though.

Patrick,

Are you planning on releasing the 2025 at the same time as the ICE-HV-160 Car?

From the picture you posted it seems the 2025 will have a 8mm shaft. Is that the case? Can you share any additional info on the 2025?

We will probably stick with the 8mm shaft. A motor with that much torque needs a shaft that large.

rotary rocket 02.15.2010 11:03 PM

The pinions on FG 1/5 scale cars are 10 mm, the gear for MCD is 8 mm but it is not really a "pinion", the Electric Harm 1/5 scaler uses 5 mm pinions (and a cheap Chinease motor). I am not familiar with the HPI, but then again the Baja and the 5T are probably your largest market for the BL conversion.

Just one of this issues I'll need to figure out for my MCD conversion.

Any ETA on this motor?

Unsullied_Spy 02.16.2010 03:08 AM

The pinions Mike already has for Baja conversions are 8mm bore, would be convenient to see the CC Neus use 8mm unless they prove too weak. Bajas will snap a 5mm shaft motor fairly easily, 8mm should be enough but 10mm would be better though more inconvenient to get pinions for.

Any new on when/if the 1717's will be released in a 5mm shaft?

Semi Pro 02.27.2010 04:08 PM

yep still waiting for the 5mm rotor, it would be nice to be able to use my 1717 at the start of the rc season

DITTO been a long time waiting:yes:
And I see that Kershaw designs has a 6mm 18t pinion.

bruce750i 02.27.2010 11:09 PM

By now any claims to Cc about the 1717 that came with a different size shaft than what was listed on the motor chart would seam a little late. Should I call CC and get on record? Has any body called about this issue?

Mine's just been sitting and waiting since the Black Friday sale.....

nitrostarter 02.28.2010 03:36 PM

I wish we could have another Black Friday sale... when I actually have some play money!

himalaya 03.01.2010 01:18 AM

Any news on the 2025 mind blower motor ? My 55" hull's waiting for her kiss to come back to life.

Urgeoner 03.01.2010 03:13 PM

1717 5mm shafts? 1717 5mm shafts?....:oh:

Duster_360 03.04.2010 02:02 PM

Disappointing we can't get an answer or info about this at all.......

May unfortunately mean its a long way off if its going to happen at all.

RuthlessLST 03.04.2010 03:18 PM

I would like an update too because this is the next purchase on my list for my LST2 build. I have the entire truck ready including the gearing. Now I just need a motor, ESC and batt.

V0RT3X 03.06.2010 10:53 AM

Offshore electrics has a note that they're expecting a new batch on April 10. Hope they come with a 5mm shaft.

No, I just didn't want to comment until I had a good answer.

I heard yesterday that we will have them in the first week of April.

I'm sorry it has taken so long to get the replacement rotors, but magnet lead times are really bad right now.

RuthlessLST 03.09.2010 04:36 PM

Where and when can I order a 1717 with the 5mm shaft?

We should have 1717 5mm shaft motors in early April.

Thanx!

Urgeoner 03.10.2010 06:58 PM

Okay Patrick, I sure hope this holds true!:yes:

Patrick,
Can these be back ordered or reserved assuming you'll get a limited supply ??

Patrick, whats your comparison on the 1717 and the 1520 as far as power?

I have a 1521/1Y that I'm putting in my LST XXL and was curious if the power difference will be significant enough to notice or make me want to change. I know the 1521 is a a meat truck for power!!

Some charts or graphs are always nice:whistle:

V0RT3X 03.11.2010 10:27 AM

What will happen to the ones with the 6mm shaft at RCM store?

Urgeoner 03.11.2010 06:29 PM

Hey Patrick. I sent you a pm about the 5mm one. I also question the power difference between 1717 1520.

Nick 03.12.2010 09:05 AM

I know the diameter is bigger on the 1717 than the 1515s but are the mounting holes the same?

suicideneil 03.13.2010 07:09 PM

25mm hole spacing & M4 holes/screws.

Unless Im trippin' again. :mdr:

V0RT3X 03.18.2010 01:34 PM

Are the listed motor lengths on the CC site with or without the shaft?

rotary rocket 03.18.2010 01:48 PM

Is there a new ETA on the 2025? TIA.

That's a 1512, a 1717, and a 2025 motor side-by-side.

This is true for all motors listed on our site. I'll ask our webmaster to add that to our motor listings to avoid future confusion; that should have already been up there. My bad.

For those of you needing a 5mm shaft rotor, please e-mail me your information and I'll make sure we get you on the list. It may come with a prepaid mailer to send the 6mm version back, but that has not been decided yet. I'll check with our international liaison and see if there's an updated ETA.

SWEET!! I almost have a set of tires worn down from pushing my truck back and forth on the floor making vroom vroom noises.

V0RT3X 03.19.2010 05:19 PM

And how long is the shaft on the 1520/1717? Around 20mm? But I can still cut it short if needed.

They are 18-21mm, 20mm on average.

Same size bolt pattern, ~ 25.4mm center hole to center hole; 3mm screws on both.

That means you could fit a 1717 motor to the mini E-Revo tenbol mount. A motor that weighs more than the car? I don't see a problem with that! :)

Would be cool, but you couldn't gear it high enough to take advantage of the torque it makes. You you need an output multiplier...
