I have bought all mine from Mike RCM or at Impakt for Robinson pinions . I have from 14t - 21t but destroyed my RCM 15t last week . |
Ended up ordering a 12T and a 11T. Can never have to many size pinions. Tekno are bringing out their 1512 Size Motors next week, depending on what they are like I might look at going down to the 1850KV motor

All I know is my medusa v2 60mm 2000kv is PERFECT in this 8t tekno v3 buggy.. runs good on 4s and is a beast on 5s, 6s is crazy.. motor temps are never over 130, 150max during summer after like 3 hours of non-stop running.

Checked through my drivetrain and seems to be alright. I did notice that the front centre cvd shaft is rubbing on the steering servo mount but it pretty much always has. I did also remove the plastic front diff mount bearing adaptor and now running the optional aluminum apator but can't see how that could do anything bad. What happens if you add to much diff fluid to the diffs.

Well I think I worked out why the centre cvd shaft hits the servo mount. Because of the 46T Spur and the RCPD rear diff mount, the front diff mount has to run spacers to sit level which makes the shaft sit higher which causes it to hit the servo mount. I'll just use a dremel and cut it off to it no longer hits and test the buggy out tomorrow to see if it helps any

Been having alot of heating issues lately with the Motor. Pulled down the drive train and found the spur gear was slightly rubbing on the rear diff mount. Worked out that with the RCPD Mount it is best to mount the rear RCPD mount, put the front losi plastic front one on but not tighten and then put the top plate on as the top plate pushes the front mount 1 - 2mm fowards which is enough to stop the spur from rubbing. After top plate is on then tighten the front diff mount on the bottom of the chassis. I am also running a aluminum front bearing adaptor but can't see why that would cause overheating. When I rebuilt the centre diff there was a shim in between the front sun gear and diff case but didn't mention nothing about it in the Losi manual so I never put it back in. Motor temps were around 190F (even with the 11T pinion when usually run the 13T pinion). I put the shim back in and changed the diff fluid from 7-10-3 to 5-7-3 to see how that goes as that is similar to what the 8IGHT-E runs. Took it to the track today and temps were back at 165F (motor) but I didn't like the change in diff fluids. I changed the centre diff fluid back to 10 000wt but wont get a chance to run it till tomorrow. Hopefully temps stay down and might try out the 12T pinion.

Did you check to see if the center diff is working properly? Hold the spur gear while turning the rear tires in reverse, and the front tires should spin forward rather easily, with a little bit of resistance due to the fluid in the diff. If the tires do not spin smoothly, you may need to get new center diff chamber and outdrives as the outdrives and chamber wear into eaching other and causing friction. This is what happened to my diff, and you would only notice the problem when the diff was in the car, after a heat/cooling cycle.
It could also be that the rotor is partially demaganetized, which will cause the motor to over heat more easily, over time. In this case you would have to send it back to neu, which should take care of it for little to no cost. If the motor spins more freely than it did when it was new, then this is likely the case. |
