Hi, maybe a stupid question, but any differences (performance, efficiency,...) with respect a Mamba Monster if I use the Mamba XL with a 1717 on 6S ?

I would like to switch to XL to have integrated Data Logging and to be able to eventually go beyond 6s limits of th MMM and I wonder whether the switch is worth the value

Bye, Andrea

Patrick,

Update site Monday morning with a price for the combo and it sounds like you'll have a few more orders :), also makes it easier for those of us wanting to use Paypal and such....

i saw the xl is using 8 gauge wire coming off the esc. does that mean the motor and batteries also should have 8 gauge wire as well?

I would. Castle has done their homework so if they fit a wire of a certain size to their ESC I would stick to it. Still I dare say that 10awg wire on the batts could hold up but why have a bottleneck in your setup. Make sure everything is equal all around and you will have an optimal setup.

I don't make any purchases with GP or HH but my distributors were still spinning their wheels on availability. I called another shop owner in the next town and what I posted is what he told me. He'd never been wrong before but, there's a first time for just about everything. What are the specs on the motor going to be? If they were already posted I missed them somewhere. I apologize for any confusion my post may have caused.

RRHobbydepot, sorry your having problems with your distributors. :whip:
One of the great things about Castle is that they make themselves available to us, I just started a thread here this last week about the availability of the XL and within 10 hours I had a responce from Patrick clearing it up.
I then waited to hear from Mike (of RCM) as to when he would be getting the XL's, and with all the info I got, decided to place my order directly with Castle Saturday (don't worry Mike will be getting my business with some mounts later this week).
With any luck Im hoping to see the XL by Thursday

:cry: looks like my hopes of pre X-mas XL are dashed, just got my confermation e-mail from Castle that my order won't ship until "after the holiday season". Seems early January is a good estimate after all.

If the wires on your packs are 12awg I would be worried. If they are 10awg then you might be right. It all depends on how much you are going to load your motor up. If your setup draws a fair bit less current than what the MMMXL is specified to handle then you should be OK. If you are going to push it to it's limit or even close I would go for 8awg wires all round. If Castle can see merit in using 8awg wires on this ESC then I would say that the batts should have the same.

I've been through this same thing with many products from many companies over the years. Look at how the computer market has Vaporware and all the delays there, just one example. It is always very frustrating.

Just sent you a PM......let me know what your thoughts are.

Just got verification from the production floor. The hold up was for the user's guide on the Mamba XL. The first units will ship on Thurs the 23rd.

I know that Richard is working on this... For the air controllers, you power up with full throttle, hold for 5 seconds. I think we are going to do something similar for the Mamba XL, but we need to make sure that the user doesn't accidentally go into programming mode when clearing the log data...

Thanx!

Arct1k 12.21.2010 03:10 PM

Thanks - How about hold reverse for 5 on plug in?

Full throttle is for me is end point setting... Or you could just make end point setting also clear the log. KISS...
