I have one of those on my toothbrush-less I think

snellemin 10.19.2010 03:55 PM

The 1717 is pretty big to a 1/10 motor. But that outrunner is a like the size of my oil filter.

Here is my comparison

Hehehe! When I ordered that outrunner it was the biggest motor Hobbycity had at that time.

@Snellemin: You got 2 sexy pletti's, those are niceee.

George16 10.19.2010 08:06 PM

Just received an email from Thomas that the motors were processed and shipped on 15 Oct 2010. That's great. However, I'll be receiving an air version of the 1717 instead of a car version.

Thomas, I replied your email. Thanks a lot for your help.

Klausen 10.20.2010 11:41 AM

Thanks for a great deal Castle.

Nard Cox 10.22.2010 06:48 AM

Just got my replacement rotor/shaft! Thanks Castle!

George16 10.26.2010 09:35 PM

Just got an email from my wife that there is a package from Kansas waiting for me when I get home in Japan.

Kudos goes to the Castle team and more specifically to Thomas. Thank you very much.

simplechamp 10.28.2010 10:51 PM

Got my 1518 today, perfect fit in my F8T, just enough room. Thing is going to rock.

nitrostarter 10.31.2010 10:50 PM

Just had to get a 1717... Can't wait to try it in my Losi XXL!

EDIT: received a shipping confirmation early this morning(day after) so thanks castle!!!

Nard Cox 11.02.2010 04:52 AM

The last month I placed 1 order for a 1520 and 1717 heli and received:
Day 1: 1520 / 1717 heli
Day 1 (other package) : 1717 heli
Day 8: 1520 and 1717 heli
No idea why I received the other three motors. I checked my credit card and CC did reduct money for these motors, though I never ordered these. No problem though, I will just sell them over here, will probably make some money off of them. To much trouble for everyone to go and send motors back and forth.

I've recently put the 1520 in my Flux XL on 4S and it was ''okay'' just waiting on 5S LiPo's to come in stock so I can see what this motor can really do.

Thanks CC, awesome products and awesome CS!

p.s. oyeah, will be sending in a MMM for warranty repair pretty soon :(.

Why not just send back the motors? I'm sure CC would provide you with a prepaid postage. They are too good to us to not do the right thing by them. At least give them the opportunity.

Nard Cox 11.03.2010 06:27 AM

It's simple:
1. I don't want to have the extra trouble, (nor does CC)
2. Castle didn't calculate shipping costs, so I got the motor pretty cheap, hence I can ''earn'' money selling them. There are several people I know who wanted a motor but didn't had a credit card of similar, I will sell them a motor for a very fair price

I'm 100% sure CC would take them back if I would ask them.

The right thing to do is to ask them. I surprised no one else has chimed in on this. It was a mistake that you received the extra motors. You shouldn't be profiting from it.

I can speak from first hand experience that CC has excellent customer service that typically extends past what they would legally be responsible to provide. For example, replacing a part part even though the warranty has expired. They deserve the opportunity to receive back the merchandise they sent you by mistake.

On the other hand, if you do reach out to them and they tell you to not worry about it, then no harm done.

You're getting bent out of shape over nothing. CC charged him for the motors. What's the big deal?

Looking back, you are right. Not sure how, but I thought they didn't charge him for the extra motors.

hemiblas 11.03.2010 12:48 PM

The post was edited. I'm pretty sure I read they didnt charge him at first, also. Now its says they charged him.

Bmr4life 11.03.2010 02:52 PM

I don't think someone would come into a CC forum to brag about CC accidentally mailing them free stuff.

pinkpanda3310 11.03.2010 07:26 PM

Too late.

Nard Cox 11.03.2010 08:22 PM

I don't know what I edited (prob. some typo's), but I'm pretty sure I stated that they did charge me the motors before the edit. Like said before, there's indeed no point in saying here that I got free motors (duhh).

Though a member on a Dutch forum did get three motors twice. He asked CC what to do with them and they said he could keep them (not sure if that's true, but that's what he posted).

hemiblas 11.03.2010 09:36 PM

I must have read it wrong too them. Oh well. I hope you are enjoying the motors, like me. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the 1717's I ordered.

Nard Cox 11.04.2010 04:23 AM

Same here ;) But I have good news.

FLM is coming out with a new set of TVP's in about two weeks. This set will handle a 1717 + 6S LiPo between the TVP's :)

Arct1k 11.04.2010 08:42 AM

Thats good news... Might mean I get my 1717 back from Jamie ;)

Nice. XL? XXL?

Arct1k 11.04.2010 09:52 AM

Jamie was working on a Baja style version so XXL - fingers x's

toplakd 11.04.2010 12:10 PM

My own Savage to Baja conversion with 560mm wheelbase
Place for batteries up to 157x74x55mm and 1717 motor sizes.
I'm using 7075 Aluminium for TVP's and motor-servo-battery plates.

Bmr4life 11.04.2010 12:59 PM

That's nice, but why not put the motor up front like some of the better conversions. I sold my TCS 5B because all it did was wheelie.

toplakd 11.04.2010 01:04 PM

TCS uses stock savage rear dogbone, this one is moved forward and it uses xl size rear dogbone.

Here is the picture from test cuts, i made and weight distribution.

Bmr4life 11.04.2010 01:07 PM

Oh ok, that's a lot better then. The weight difference between the 1717 and the titan 550 in your mock up shouldn't be a problem.

How'd you machine that?

toplakd 11.04.2010 01:10 PM

With CNC mill.
I hope I will mill all parts till weekend and then show A complete Piece.

I will offer this product online, but I'm still waiting my custom dogbones from 303 stainless steel.

p.s.: The Titan is 775 :)
Dejan

thzero 11.04.2010 02:56 PM

Note he also has the batteries inside the chassis. As I recall you didn't. This helps a lot with the weight distribution.

That's correct, but batteries up front wouldn't have helped nearly enough. I'll have to post a video of my 5B on asphalt. Simply moving the batteries up front wouldn't have solved my problems.

thzero 11.04.2010 04:12 PM

You might be surprised. 5S/6S batteries are fairly heavy. However, yes I suppose that the traction would probably increase when running on asphalt. Much different than on grass, loose dirt, etc.

Yeah, I was only running 4s. 2 hard case 2s Turnigy lipos. With 5s/6s, I'd think it would be even more likely.

I was using the Terrapin tires, not sure if their large diameter had any effect on it.

toplakd 11.04.2010 04:40 PM

Because of this, in my TVP's motor is moved 60mm forward compared to TCS.

Yes, made by a friend of mine with cnc, but he did it without thinking too much.
A lot of measures are wrong and i've made a lot of work to make it functional.
Distance between spur and pinion, holes for the tvp, distance from ground and position of the center diff are wrong. I milled the motor mounts by myself and builded two carbon plates to fit them in the chassis.

But is another story.

armourbl 11.22.2010 12:08 PM

Any chance there is someone who got the 1520 and would like to trade for a 1717 car version? I have a 1717 that I've run twice at the track, and now I'm thinking I should have gotten the 1520 instead.
