ok, so i got my camera working again. here are some pics of recent work on the 1/5.

modded bumper. looks much more like truggy bumper.

picked up a set of chrome spoke wheels.

<a href="http://s471.photobucket.com/albums/rr77/ryujames/?action=view&current=DSC01254.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i471.photobucket.com/albums/rr77/ryujames/DSC01254.jpg" border="0" alt="redcat34"></a>

here are the integy disc brakes. coming along nice but not done yet. cant wait to get these all hoooked up.

<a href="http://s471.photobucket.com/albums/rr77/ryujames/?action=view&current=DSC01255.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i471.photobucket.com/albums/rr77/ryujames/DSC01255.jpg" border="0" alt="redcat33"></a>
<a href="http://s471.photobucket.com/albums/rr77/ryujames/?action=view&current=DSC01256.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i471.photobucket.com/albums/rr77/ryujames/DSC01256.jpg" border="0" alt="redcat32"></a>

set of modded baja 5b shocks on the rear. baja front shocks to come this week. these are 10x better than the rampage shocks and have a huge 6mm shock shaft for super strength.

<a href="http://s471.photobucket.com/albums/rr77/ryujames/?action=view&current=DSC01257.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i471.photobucket.com/albums/rr77/ryujames/DSC01257.jpg" border="0" alt="redcat31"></a>

used a set of kyosho big bore shock boots as dog bone boots. these work much better than the huge HPI or Darksoul boots they sell for this.

<a href="http://s471.photobucket.com/albums/rr77/ryujames/?action=view&current=DSC01258.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i471.photobucket.com/albums/rr77/ryujames/DSC01258.jpg" border="0" alt="shockbootRR"></a>

so this week should be a good week. i am anticipating getting my motor mount and spur gear back from the machine shop, my Hydra hv240 arrives, and a few other things that i plan to get done. i am hoping to have something that is starting to resemble a finished truck by next week. we'll see.

i can tell already they should work great. just with one mounted up i can roll the truck and pull the cable manually and the pads grab the disc firmly and stop the truck. i think they will stop this beast on a dime. i have to make some new discs though cuz these are 24mm and meant for the baja whereas the rampage has 22mm hexes. so i have some 2mm carbon coming this week to make my own brake discs.

carbon fiber brake discs, cool. do you have to balance the break-power or does that work automatically? I remember that from eg. old landrover, when the mechanical breaks are not well adjusted, the car turns right or left when breaking.

because the center diff is locked on this truck that wont happen. technically i could only run one set of breaks and it "should" work. if i do notice anything like that though i can adjust the grab of brakes to be equal all around by adjusting the width of the pads so that all 4 grab at roughly the same time. i really wish i had a viscous center diff and could then dial in front and rear bias. i am doing the the 4-wheel brakes now even though they are not needed cuz i hope to build a viscous center diff at some point in the future. i guess it will depend mostly on how i like the locked center diff.

Lookin' good man.. lookin' good...

Very nice, I'm jealous. And I wanna see a closeup of the brakes without the disc. I'm curious where the mounting holes lined up.

With your brake bias, your right you don't have to worry front to rear right now. But you do have to worry about left to right, as there is a diff between them. If it is off it'll probably be most noticable when you first apply the breaks, or when applying light to moderate pressure. The solid center diff will help even things out alot, as each wheel is not as independant. With your skills I'm sure it'll be setup pretty close on the bench either way. Keep it up
