On a side note, how many people like the new style of body? It would be cool to have something like this for the XT8.

Xray is working on a bulldog like shell so that part might be avaible from Xray.

Just a guess tough.

its simple to drill 4 new holes in the tower and lower the mounts ill try and get a close up picture of mine later.

I can drill the shock towers if needed. I just drilled my gorillamaxx chassis to fit a slipperential, it just takes forever. Triple check!

Does anyone know if Mugen MBX6-T bodies fit the XT8? I am looking at these two:
http://www.jconcepts.net/store/index...roducts_id=355
http://prolineracing.com/bodies/bulldog-mbx6t-body/

The MBX6-T has higher body mounts like the XT8, right?

EDIT:
Never mind http://www.rctech.net/forum/nitro-of...8-o9-spec.html

The JC punsher works great with the lowered Mugen rear body mounts. I just got one a couple days ago and trimmed it on the lines and it fit right up. No extra fitting needed. The bulldog works but needs to be cut weird in the back to clear the shock tower. A buddy of mine has the buldog on his XT8 and I diodnt really care for the fit of it.

Here is a picture of the mugen mounts on my xray for whoever it was that asked for a picture.

The active diffs work, but to me are for very specific situations. I have them but dont use them very often. 90% of the time I much prefer running the 41T overdrive gear on the front diff and the slipperential in the middle.

The 41T gear really makes the truggy turn in like crazy and accelerate straight out of the corners. Really like it alot in most situations. Makes my truggy feel like driving a buggy.:mdr:

Thanks jhautz!!! That is exactly what I was looking for. Is this the body that you used? http://www.jconcepts.net/store/index...roducts_id=355 I am tweeking waiting for my parts from RCM!

You can use the active 41T gear on the stock diff? and it helps turning in the corner?

Any other setup tips that your willing to share? :yipi:

I think that jhautz is talking about this one: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...Bevel-Gear-41T

not this: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...Bevel-Gear-41T

lucias 04.20.2010 05:56 PM

Ahh Thanks.. I didn't think to look under the buggy. I am going to have to try this if it helps turning..

jhautz 04.20.2010 08:52 PM

Yea. That's the gear. Makes a huge difference with how the truggy turns in off power and how it exits the corner on power.

The other thing I'll say is don't go to high in the diff oils. I run 5/7/3 in mine and love it. I see alot of guys running alot heavier than that and it forces you to dive alot more agressive to get the car to handle. Of course that is just preference.

I had a friend of mine that drives a losi 8t test my car out last weekend during practice because I was turning some really fast laps and he couldn't pull the same times. He took the wheel of my xt8 and on his second lap around the track beat his best time with his car by a full second! Needless to say he bought an XT8 the next day. Lol.

The XT8 is a machine!

Indeed! I just finished building my XT8e with the new Rx box and it is such a clean setup! Great job Mike!

Is that your truck jhautz? What spur gear are you running on the slipperential? What is a good setup for shocks? The stock setup seems really light!

My truck. Used to be JHautz's spare xt8, but I got tired of him and another xt8 guy beating my SLowsi 8t 2.0, so I doubled down and picked up an xt8.

The slipperential spur is Mike's Delrin/plastic spur. 48t tooth. Running 6s/1400kv buggy motor. Works really well and very effient. Running less than 200mah/minute which is phenomenal in a truggy.

Cool! Thanks for the info! What battery are you using? I bought a 5s 5000mah Hyperion and the dang thing wont balance properly (3rd cell goes over a .25v difference while charging). Hopefully I will receive a replacement in a week or so. Could you possibly shed any light on suspension setup?

I really don't know yet. I have only had it on the track once and I had no idea what oils were in the suspension. I haven't had enough track time with it yet to be able to offer any credible setup advice with the xt8.

I put 35wt in the front and 30wt in the back with blue springs. Still trying to figure it out myself!

Truck drives good though and I think it will be dialed after a one or two more race days.

Handles much more like a buggy than my Losi. Turns in on a dime and is very stable. I can push it much harder and it seems to actually handle better the more I drive balls to the wall.
