It looks fairly bright. I just bought some new bars tonight, they will be here next week. I got them because my bars are uncomfortable while riding in the drops. Have you been following the Tour down under?. You have a AUSSIE ( Robbie McEwen) as the overall leader.

I've heard the name before but I'm not a fan of armchair sports. Those bars look like they would be more comfy, I rarely use the drop down.

So i take it you don't watch the Tour De France, or the Giro d'italia, or the vuelta espana either ?.

 or aussie rules footy, or cricket, or soccer. I get some idea of what's going on from the boys at work but it wouldn't phase me if it wasn't there. Don't get me wrong, I like to play sports, just not real big on watching.

This takes BALLS of Steel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iqwARP2BvQ They are reaching speeds of 60 + MPH. This is from the 2003 TDF. The guy that wiped out was never the same after the wreck.

OUCH! You get to realize how light these things are when you get up speed / and lift the back wheel under brakes. I didn't get up to speed much on my cheap mountain bikes but I felt a whole lot safer on them when I did.

I read the reason that happened was his RR wheel lost, then regained traction, then lost it again, & possibly Braking to hard. When he ran over the black section on the pavement. It looked like either a oil or tar like substance.

Did 45km yesterday. Dad, Bro and a new guy. He is a massues/personal trainer. I don't think we were fast enough for him but I think it was a decent distance for him. He has only been riding a few months like me. Full of beans he likes to attack hills, which is great for me:yipi: I offered to race him up one of my favourite hills, we passed a number of other bikes up the hill:mdr::na: There was only a couple of bike lengths in it but I beat him:party: I was proud I could beat him but I don't think I will beat him for long, He rides to work and where ever else he can, much more regular than me.

I bet his shoulder feels good. I had to watch that part about a dozen times...

bigboi146 01.24.2011 01:54 AM

I fell just like that once trying to skid in the rain. Wasn't pretty lol

Ouch, diggin' how that one guy just rides through the grass like it's nothin'

I had a question for you bikers... or whatever you call yourselves

My friend and I "bike" or hills, or at least, we try to, for a workout.. (You see, our workout is likely to your warmup..)

Anyways, I had a tire blow out (rear wheel; this is on a 16+ y/o road bike... I think.) and completely shredded the tube and tread. You see, the tire treads were well, gone. The rubber is more of a "is that tape!?" kind of rubber, so thin...

Anyways, I took it over to a LBS, and forked over $35 bucks to get a new tire and tube ($12.99 for the tire, 7.99 for the tube, and 8 for labor). I know I know, what a rip.
But hey, at least I got a new tire, would've never convinced my dad that we would need a new tire...
We previously bought tubes for ~$5, and never touched the tire (probably why this blew).

Anyways, are most of the bikers using regular air tubes?

I saw some "No-Moar-Flat" tubes in wallyworld, where they're filled with green slime, so they wouldn't pop, nor go flat from nails and such.. Has anyone had any experience with these? I tend to like going in the dirt, where theres nice sharp pieces of glass and such lying under the dirt, unknowingly riding over it, and having to spend an hour patching the fifty holes..

Anyways, comparison of the slimed tubes and the air'd ones?

He's not bad that bloke...might have won a race or two

That Slime is like an egg in the radiator - it finds the hole & fills it as the pressure is escaping. Not exactly high performance stuff but probably useful if your other option is a long walk/carry

I use it in my wheelbarrow :mdr:

pinkpanda3310 01.24.2011 07:57 AM

I haven't had any experience with the stuff. If your running over glass I don't expect it will seal a decent gash/slash, things could get messy then.

We carry a spare tube as well as repair kits. The tube is quicker and easier to change and the repair kit is for just in case. I don't know if the slime would work at higher pressure anyway. My bike tires are around 120psi.

If you had mountain bikes I expect the pressure might be 40-60psi I guess the slime would work for that application.

The guy running threw the field was Lance Armstrong. He went on to win the Tour De France that year.

Rawfuls
Do not use slime in a road bike tire, because the stuff never dries untill it hits air. So it will always be sloshing around in your Tire, & that is not good. You can use Mr Tuffy Tire liners instead. They are a thin plastic piece you put between your tire & Tube. The guy riding threw the grass was Lance Armstrong in the 2003 Tour De France. Yes most guys use regular tubes. But some people use Latex tubes. Latex Tubes are more come in tubular rims, were the Tube is sewn in to the tire. Then the Tire is Glued to the rim.

James

They say the guy was not the same after the wreck.

I rode 33 miles yesterday & the place was noting but Hills. All the local cycling clubs Train out there. It was 38 degrees when we starting.

agarabaghi 01.24.2011 03:03 PM

you can use sealant in road tires. It not that it stays liquid, but coats the sides walls.

There are a lot of new Tubeless rims and tires coming out
