LOL a motor that is heavier than the vehicle its self! LOL I think Patrick made that comment in regards to the tembold mount. Bruce, I love the black and white effect in the savage installation where you left the motor green.

My motor mount is skimpy looking where the 3mm bolts fit! I was afraid to take any more material off to fit the 4mm, but I was thinking of doing it all the same.
Thanks!

Just a bump to see if there was any news about more 5mm rotors being available. Thank you

Raydee 05.09.2010 11:38 PM

If anyone here bought the 6mm version 1717 and doesn't want it or need it let me know. I have a Boat project that will LOVE that motor.

andreazinno 05.12.2010 10:33 AM

Hi, any news about the 5mm shaft availability ?

Can someone confirm that all the new 1717 motors will be shipped with 5mm shaft ?

Besides, will be the new shaft a full-5mm one or it will be reduced from 6 to 5 just on the part coming out from the can (just to know if the bearings will be the same of 15xx motors) ?

Bye, Andrea.

bruce750i 05.12.2010 05:36 PM

^^ My 5mm shaft is 6mm at the bearings.

Raydee 05.17.2010 07:48 PM

Has anyone cut the wire length down on the 1717 motor? I know on Castle's site it says OK TO SHORTEN WIRES but I want to be sure before I do.

Bondonutz 05.17.2010 08:00 PM

It's cool, go for it ! I chopped an inch off mine as well.

Dont cut more than couple inches though, the wires might have a coating that makes soldering impossible.

Raydee 05.17.2010 08:51 PM

Hmm I need to cut them by half, hopefully that won't be a problem.

I'd call tech help to insure you have no problems. I'd almost bet you will not but if you get into that stuff I'm refering to Good Luck !

Raydee 05.18.2010 06:56 PM

Well I was in a hurry and decided to take 1.5" off like others clain they have and guess what...I can't get the wires to tin at all now.........

Very Sorry to hear.

I found myself in this position once and I had to use a Butane micro torch to burn off the "varnish" and then scrape the wire clean.

Hope you can remedy your situation however you do it ?

suicideneil 05.18.2010 07:41 PM

100watt iron to the rescue?

I put EC5 and 5.5mm bullets on the 10g wires with no trouble at all, and all I have is a crappy 45watt iron- just use a broad tip and leadfree solder....

Raydee 05.18.2010 07:47 PM

Well it appears that the AIR version of the 1717 has wires more like a NEU motor and they should not be shortened. I am going to have to find a way to get the coating off the wires so I can resolder them. I think Castle should change the info on their site to say its OK to shorten the Car motors ONLY!

NickRummy 06.01.2010 12:32 PM

Has anyone mounted up a 1717 in a Mugen Mbx5t? I have a prospec I'm thinking about getting and was thinking of dropping my 1717 in it. It has a Tekno conversion on it now and I wasn't sure if the can size would let it fit? I know I'll have to get the 4mm hardware to work but I don't think that'll be a huge deal.

nuz69 06.01.2010 08:31 PM

I have a MBX5T prospec too, it has a CC 1520/1Y in. With your 1717 you could expect even cooler temps than a 1520 and maybe more torque per amp. But like you said, its size is its problem ^^ you need maybe a RCeclite motor mount to fit this beat in your truggy :D maybe a RCM motor mount with big spacer under it should do the trick too...

andreazinno 06.11.2010 06:39 AM

Hi all, just to asking an update on shaft size: do You know if the 1717 is now available with 5mm shaft ?

Is the 5mm the standard size for future 1717 or have I to ask explicitly the seller to have such size ?

Bye, Andrea.

Thomas Porfert 06.11.2010 12:01 PM

We are very close to shipping out the motors with the 5mm shaft. We received the new rotors earlier this week and they are currently being reassembled. So they should be shipping out in a matter of days! (Barring any major hold ups). They will all be 5mm shafts from this point forward. If anyone still needs a 5mm shaft to replace their 6mm shaft, please let me know.

@Castle,
do you have any news on the 2025? Now that the rc-monster conversion kit for the Baja is out I'd be interested to hear what the status was on these motors.

Thanks

thomatrix 06.22.2010 01:26 AM

Thomas P,
could you let us know what's going on with the 2025 motors?

Any info on the matter would be great.

Bmr4life 09.24.2010 09:16 PM

So what's the deal with these motors now? Is it the end of the line already???
