Just received my speed controls (3X TMM 16018-3 Car / Boat EXPERT+) back from MGM after having the firmware upgraded to the Ver. 3.21 . The turn around time in total from the time I sent it to the time I got it back was 1 month (Australia), not the quickest but there was no charge from MGM for the upgrade, CC_03 cable or the return postage (I did pay the postage to send the 3 controls $60Aus. 3-5 days delivery).
I can confirm that the newest firmware will operate with Futaba Radios in "HRS" mode (I use a 3PKS with th Futaba Fasst 2.4GHz system) this is a welcome update as I always use digital servos and they will now be operating to their maximum performance.
I have yet to test the LVC as my system would go to reduce RPM once the edge came off my packs @ about the 2mins mark, I will post my findings after I test drive my car.

Cheers Andrew

Can you guys with the new firmware and that have a Neu motor let me know if the controller accelerates when you apply the brakes? I would appriciate that very much.

I have a neu running fine with the old software version; I did see similar to what you describe with a big maxx though. What wind neu were you running?

I'm using the 1521/1Y.

Picked my 22418 from the post office this morning. I will be installing it tonight so we'll see what happens with mine tomorrow...

Yes please let us know if quirky braking stuff is gone...ready to send mine in....when you guys are sending them in are you insuring them full value or taking a risk with a low declared value ?

When I finally decide to send mine in, they will have full value and more . The post office should be more careful when it comes to our beloved electronics. If it was going to Brasil, you would definete get a lot of money. Customs down there stinks.

:lol:Do you know what??? When MGM will send it back to you, they'll only put $10.00 value on the shipping slip:oh:

Now imagine if it got lost on the way back to you. Do they add insurance for when they ship it back?

david lamontagn 04.01.2008 07:40 AM

Don't know if they put insurance, but i know that only a value of $10.00 was put on mine.

austinmaxx 04.01.2008 10:55 AM

well they can replace it for the 10.00 if its lost...

I will have to think twice about send the 2 MGMs I have. I have the 8012, but that one is working good.

Well I ran my truck yesterday with the updated 22418 and my Neu 1521. There is a huge difference in power now! I knew that I was not getting all the power that this setup was capable of. Before the truck was impressive, now it is just plain ridiculous.

I don't think that everyone will notice as much of a gain. MGM had said that the issue was with large motors that pull a lot of current. I'm just guessing that a 1515 might be a bit more punchy, but anything over that will be quite a bit improved.

My run was cut short (I knew in my head that something was going to break!) when the threads that hold my shock tower to the FLM bulkless failed and the shock tower came loose after a poorly landed jump. I think the screws that come with the FLM are too short because they only seem to engage about 1/3 to 1/2 of the thread. I am sending my bulkless to FLM today and ordering some longer M4 screws. I can't wait to get this thing back out.

Another benefit of the new software on the MGM is that my motor ran super cool. Now that it is getting enough juice I am sure it is more effecient. I was hoping it would run cooler but I didn't know it would be that different. I ran the MGM software when I got back and sure enough the numbers were much improved from before. I don't have the saved screen infront of me with the exact numbers, but I can say that for the first time the data had a number for the "current at full throttle". Peak amps were up near 400 and max RPM was 37500ish. Before the upgrade the max RPM I would have after a run was in the 32000 - 33000 range.

All in all I would say that the upgrade was worth it. My controller was dead at the time anyway. There is the risk of loosing your controller in the mail if you do the $10 declared value thing. I think I would only send the controller in if I knew that I was missing power that I should have or I was running the controller in "cutoff" mode and the truck was constantly cutting off even with high quality lipos (due to the current cuttoff, not the low voltage lipo protection). Remember that my controller ran without cutting off in "reduce RPM" mode, it just performed poorly. In cutoff mode the truck was useless. I can't comment on the brakes, I use mechanical.

Realy good!! But in which mode do you run your controlller now?? Cut off or reduce RPM??

I'm running Reduce RPM. My truck is down for the moment but I am going to give cutoff a run on my next outing. I am quite sure that it isn't going to cutoff. Just looking at the data on the software I can see that the controller is allowing full throttle output, which it never had before. It will be a week or two before I get a replacement hybrid bulk from FLM though...
