Check out post number 3 on this thread:
http://www.truggyracers.com/forum/in...howtopic=16424 I think it's an excellent break down of XT8 setup info. Obviously it will also depend on the type of driving style you have as well as the type of track. Hope this info helps, and welcome to the XT8 club! |
Here is my challenge, I race on sand, since we have dunes right next to us.
We do race on a hard track once in a while. What diff oil do I use? With sand, the ground is soft, and can be lumpy. My goal is to set it up to really grab and handle well. But, when I run on the dirt track, I don't want to have to change the diff oil Any recommendations? |
I don't see any way you can avoid changing diff oils when the grip of the surface is so different. From my understanding, that's what the diff oils are really for. Does anyone else have any other understanding that might help him?

Would you start with 7/10/7 on sand? |

How about a swap in "one way" or "limited slip" center diff for sand play and keep the "gear" diffs set for the track?
|
that's what i would do for starters - just buy a complete center diff to swap out, so you'd have a center diff with oil for each of the 2 tracks. it's not too tough to get the diffs out, but having to change oils would get old quick (tear the diff down, pour out the old oil, clean out well, put new oil in, etc.).

I think the one I got for my hyper 7 was actually called a "torsen differential" I'll see if I can get you a link.
Edit: tower hobbies has them if you search for it.http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMVX9 |
