Wow awesome to hear about the Castle Neu motors! I definitely think I will be adding one of those to my shopping list!

Thanks Patrick!

No worries ... it happens to the best of us. We're just excited for the coming attraction! I'm tempted to buy two just have two.

Patrick - Will you do that same MAP deal when the motors come out - they sound great but would hope not to be disadvantaged now by buying the MMM straight away - Thanks

lincpimp 04.11.2008 11:00 AM

Great info Patrick, thanks! Hope that you feel better, strep throat sucks big time!

I will be looking forward the the esc, and will definately buy the motor(s) when they come out. The castle neu will be mass produced, will it compare to an authentic neu in performance? Are you still going to do a few different winds? Or just the 2200kv motor? And is it too early to ask about the motor pricing? So many qestions, sorry about that!

suicideneil 04.11.2008 11:11 AM

If ya dont ask, you dont get (answers in this case)- someone once told me that, and it is very true.

Bummer about the strep throat, but its good to hear more info about the MMM.

Is it actually going to be called the MambaMonsterMaxx though, or just the MonsterMaxx?...

badassrevo 04.11.2008 11:15 AM

I don't care what it is called, I just want one.

I believe it is going to be just Mamba Monster... dropping Max on the packaging. But I'm not positive, that's not my dept...

I just run the engineering dept.

I hope the naming doesn't slow down the production of the stickers. I'll take a plain, unnamed one, thank you.

Patrick,

This is a bit off topic, but you mentioned an HV version as well in rcgroups. Are you still going to be making one after the 6S version is done? Here you can see what I was thinking: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...t=9183&page=14 (Starts at post # 205). I still have to send my HV110 and MM in and if it's possible to use the MOSFET I mentioned in the HV110, I would buy them. I would also like to know if you can add a very simple car software for the HV110 as well.

Regards.

Patrick, I'm planning to come down to KC next weekend for the RC Pro Series race, and I want to stop by CC sometime, probably Friday morning. I'm hoping to meet you and the guys.

Strep Throat: I suggest you start taking big doses of Vitamin C now... to keep it from coming back. I did that after getting it again a few months ago after getting strep for the 3rd time in about a year. It had been that I often felt like I was "getting" a sore throat or every time I got a little touch of a cold, it seemed like the strep was going to come back. But after taking couple 1000mg or more vitamin C every day that completely went away and I've been great since. I still try to take C every day... I'm thinking it's a magic pill

suicideneil 04.11.2008 12:39 PM

Glassdoctor is a pill head...

Patrick, thanks for the info on the CC/Neu motor. That all looks really nice. I assume on these early orders you will limit quantities and if so what will the limit be. I only want two, and they are both for me. I just don't want to see people buying and selling them on ebay at 200% markups and what not.

captain harlock 04.11.2008 04:41 PM

Patrick, nice posts so far.

BTW, I'm with Lu regarding the HV version of the Mamba Monster. I also would like to know if there're any plans to release such a version, not to mention that the building procedure will be much easier since you already have the monster bases.

Keep watching the website, we will probably only give a single week for the special.

The "Castle Neu" motors will be build in Castle's Chinese facility, under license from Steve Neu, and we are currently waiting on magnets to arrive from our magnet supplier in China to build the final prototypes and get the production line started. The "Authentic Neu" motors are built in Steve Neu's facility in San Diego. The differences between the motors were mostly to make the CC motor better suited for RC car use -- the "Authentic" Neu motors were designed for airplane and heli use originally, which calls for lightest possible weight.

#1: Authentic Neu motors have carbon fiber wound rotors, the Castle Neu motors will not have a carbon wound rotor. (We tried, but Carbon Fiber is so rare right now we just couldn't procure enough carbon for production... but we have found in testing that the carbon wound rotors aren't significantly stronger, they just protect the stator better when the rotor fails, so we decided to move forward without a carbon wound rotor.)
#2: Castle Neu motors have a completely different case, which is better suited to RC car use (better seals on front and rear bearings, more heat sink area, heavier and stiffer construction.)
#3: Castle Neu motors have larger front bearings to handle RC car loads better than the Neu motors
#4: Castle Neu motors have high flex 10ga silicone wires exiting the case, instead of winding wires (better suited to very high vibration environments.)

Thanx!

Patrick

So on the CC website, if you click build it next to the selected motor, that will be this version but if you want the original heli version you select the heli version in the tick box?

I don't believe that's the case. The motors you can order from them currently are Neu motors. Castle is now the US distributor for Neu Motors. The Heli version of a Neu motor has a special can style:
http://www.neumotors.com/20061222/HeliMotors.html

I'm sure they will do plenty to distinguish between their "Castle Neu" motors and the original Neu motors once they actually have their "Castle Neu" motors available.
