 Awesome Mike!!! I have mine on order! I plan on using this in my G3R and I didnt need the plate anyway, so I am all good here. Now I just need a center diff and some drive shafts.
Does FLM and RCM use the same shop??? Maybe FLM could redesign their standard maxx skid plate to include mounting for this CD mount. http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...LM16010&cat=31 Just an idea. |
Great idea

I thought everyone would be happy they were made available - I don't quite understand the complaining, either. This setup hasn't dramatically changed from the few others I made previously - the CD height changed slightly, along with the top plate and front piece(to match the top). There is good reason for the MINOR CHANGES - The top plate is secured to the motor mount with 2 screws - there is no need for 2 screws on the front piece as well. I also had to change to top plate so it was compatible with the Slipperential(also why the height changed - a 46t spur will fit without a spur cut-out underneath). I also added the bored holes at the top side of the screw holes for ease of use(no need to remove the motorscrews when installing or removing the motor, as they slide out the top of the holes). Finally, I added holes on the side to allow use of turnbuckles for those installing in a G2R or G3R(some had mentioned this) - I also have made a shorter front piece for this that fits snugly under the front steering plate on the G2R and G3R vehicles.
I didn't list the original skid with this - I instead choose to include a simple drill template so folks can install it wherever they like(other vehicle applications were mentioned in this thread) - The 3905 maxx wasn't even out when I first made this, and I am gonna assume many will end up on the new truck rather than the old truck, so I didn't want to force the skid on people that weren't gonna use it(originally this was made and fitted to the original FLM emaxx chassis). If you need a skid for the old FLM emaxx, all you have to do is ask me - this is a simple part to make, and also very simple to use the included template to drill the FLM skid that is already matched to the chassis. |
I guess I should explain myself. The end result simply isn't what I was expecting. I only sold the unit I had because I made over 200% profit, and I thought that I could replace it. I never placed it for sale, I was approached and asked to sell it.
Also, yeah, I can drill 4 holes. I cannot drill 4 holes and attain the fit and finish of Rc-Monster quality. Anything I do will look "hack" in comparison to what I sold. It is a disappointment. Any standard skid drilled and countersunk will have very little material left. Also, the LST conversion I have planned for this mount utilized the bottom plate. I apologize, I threw a fit. I assumed there was a cad file somewhere and that the new units would match the old. I am glad to see provisions for turnbuckles and that it was made to fit the slipperential. That is awesome news. Also the added height will make this much easier for custom applications, as Mike explained above. All in all excellent work. I simply reacted poorly.:oh: |
Not alone.
You were not alone Harold. I to did nto realize what the changes were, and was disappointed to see that it was not the same unit. I to will need the plate since I am planning to mount this on the original 3906 EMaxx flm chassis and the Lightning chassis as well. I to want the RCM fit and finish, not some hack job that I have to make out of the FLM skid. CNC work like this is always better if it comes from the source. So MIke if possible can you please make some plates up and send two with my center diff mounts that I placed on order in your store? Thank you Sir.

PM sent Mike, two cd/motor mounts paid for via pay-pal. I'd also like 1 FLM 3906 skid for use with this. I 'll work something out for my LST conversion.
Please let me know the additional charge. Thank you for the excellent products. |
There is a positive side. With this project done, Mike can now concentrate on the long delayed Baja conversion kit!
Sheesh, you guys and your ancient vehicles! Get a Revo! :sarcastic: Actually, I still run my original E-Maxx with Hacker motor. How bad is that? |
And he can restock the slipperentials ;)

:oh: Don’t get frustrated Mike. This mount is better than I expected!

People are never happy. I like them a lot Mike and I will get one.
|
I already ordered one and will mount it on my gmaxx. I content with the product.
|
Lito, I thought you parted ways with the E-Maxx?
I'm really excited about this unit! I will be getting one in a few days. I'm understand this discontent to a point but I'm content. What I don't understand is the lack of screw holes in the picture on the opposite side of the motor mount where it attaches to a chassis. -Zack |
Anybody heard
Just curious anyboddy heard anything about when they are shipping yet?

1. I rarely drive it. 2. I want to buy another truck. 3. They don't make this type of truck anymore. I guess it has grown on her because she said just keep it and buy another truck. I wasn't expecting that answer. Then she went on to say that I deserve to buy whatever truck I want because being on a ship means I get to receive extra money (sea pay which is $500 a month). I just converted an X2 CR pro. I'm going to reassemble the gmaxx and use it for speed runs only. What can I say? She's a keeper :party::party: |
