Let me see if I have this right... A guy wanted to race his flux against your XT8. You told him sure just after lunch and he was shocked somehow by this? Or another take I see is that perhaps you did race him at lunch and he was shocked at the results. How am I doing?:neutral:

Swift, I think you did a great job, so don't get down on yourself.

I will give you a hint that a lot of people don't know, but most of the better painters do...use 1/16", 3/32", and 1/8" automotive pinstripe to mask off your lines & graphics! The edges are razor sharp, and it can be flexed/bent around corners as tight as you want the radius to go! Since the edges are so sharp, there is ZERO bleed-through, and your lines will be perfectly smooth & clean! Once you have your lines laid down with the pinstripe, you can use regular masking tape or painters tape for the rest.

yea I won his truck flipped twice and wasnt stable in the straight hahahahaha So he had to by me lunch OK I think I might try that idea with the automotive pinstripes

Good Job, Jeff. I had the exact same result at my track yesterday with my XT8. I won 1/8 buggy too(getting the bugs worked out of my 808 now). :)

I didnt race buggy. Raced 4wd SC as my 2nd class. I had TQ in that class too. But finished 2nd in the main. Made some dumb mistakes and got myself into trouble and couldnt make it up. But considering I was at a bachelor party the night before and I was hung way over I guess I cant complain. I was pretty happy. Best driving Ive done in a while.

I actually TQ'd buggy in real life, but my personal transponder missed a few laps during qualifying, so I started in 7th place(I won both heats fairly easily, but just started where the numbers put me). It was only a club race, so no point in squabbling over qualifying position anyways.
I LOVE the truggy - every bit as good as my RC8T. I think it can get a little better with tuning, but it rocks right now. It can get a bit unstable if I make a mistake, but is super responsive and quick(drives like a buggy). I was very consistent with my truggy - my fastest lap was 30.1 seconds and my slowest lap was 31.6 seconds during qualifying. I could probably account for the 1.5 second difference, too(a bobble in the middle section?). I was pretty happy with this result for the 2nd time I ever raced the truck.

I like the 808 buggy so far but I don't feel like it is quite dialed yet(RC8 is completely dialed) - it is getting pretty close now, though. The XRay is very tunable, so I am confident I will get it where it needs to be(right now, my RC8 is more dialed). I was quite consisten with the buggy, but the transponder issue makes it more difficult to determine exactly how consistent I was, though it was fairly easy to determine the real results(low 30 second laps throughout with a 65 and a 91 second lap in the middle somewhere).
My first run with the 808 it pushed like a school bus on initial turn-in and was very tippy/unstable. I installed the 41t ring gear, removed the front sway bar and added RC8 hexes(more offset for about 2mm extra width). Now it turns in like mad and is super responsive (twitchy even) and a little more stable. I think I will put the sway bar back on and see how it goes. I am not quite right on the shocks yet, either I don't think but it is close enough now that i can make small adjustments one at a time to get it dialed in. It is still narrower than "legal" specs allow, so I may make a wider hex to get as much width as possible for the added stability.

The hangover probably had you relaxed, jeff. Someties you gotta take your mind off the race to race better. :)

So Mike, not only do you have the absolute best ideas & designs, and develop & build the very finest parts, you are also a TQ/WIN racer as well...in multiple classes? Are you using your machining equipment and experience to make parts and turn yourself into a super-human?

I raced my xt8 for the first time this past weekend. This was also my first time racing outdoors on dirt. I learned a lot of things and the most important thing is to bring lots and lots and lots of sunscreen! :lol: The truck worked well, but I was unable to complete my race. I forgot to locktite the set screw on my pinion and couldn’t figure it out on time. Yah, I know…. I didn’t break anything major on the truck, but my power supply took a dump. It made a hissing noise, snap, crackle, pop, and a little puff of smoke! I just about fell out of my chair! I was thinking about getting a Bulldog 30 or 45 amp power supply as a replacement. Does anyone have a suggestion? I also need some new rear shock boots, mine ripped in half. The XRAY ones are way too short. What are people using?
