That looks good man. Give us an update how it works when you do get it.

Tired of waiting I ordered some 23mm Hex and Truggy wheels from the local supplier. I belted and glued the tires quickly so I could do a new test run. The tires wont hold up to a full throttle straight run, but for sure it is fun anyway..

As I was alone when driving, the vid. is quite bad - it is alway difficult to drive the cars with one hand only and then shoot the video with the other - hope you can enjoy it anyway...

Temperature is OK on all parts, but on grass the ESC will over-heat for sure.

Looks like those tyres are holding up ok... i dont buy those tyres any more because i find they are bald after 3 runs or so on dirt.

I know waht you mean about gras, but because i run primarily on grass and dirt on occasion, i have geared it to stay cool on grass and therefore its extremely cool on dirt and on tarmac.

Did you record your temps?

mckrill 06.28.2010 05:09 AM

The motor was 50C (by sensor), but the ESC was hot "by hand". Lipos was warm in the range of 35C "by hand". I have a larger spur gear to put on as well, but as for pinions the 12t I'm using is minimum due to the 8mm bore.

The tires was cheap even if they don't last, hopefully they last until I get the new ones from US.

Jahay 06.28.2010 05:20 AM

what spur are you using? and what are you geared too? i was going to use a 12t pinion and a 46t spur. That shouldnt cause you any probs on you massive motor and esc??? i think you would be fine.

I also bought a new 400w charger from Hobby king for 79usd.. When charging my 6s G3's on 5c it just took 13 minutes, perfectly balanced. Great value!

mckrill 06.28.2010 05:34 AM

I think it is 46t spur at the moment. (The truggy spur is 52t)
The diameter of the wheels have a huge impact as well, so I will have to wait and see when I get the new wheels.

I would like to be able to use full throttle more often as the ESc and Motor will run cooler - but at the moment the tires is the weak link.

I did some racing on asphalt as well, the truck behaves really nice now. More videos will come.

That thing is just ballistic man:yes:... how was the 'handling' with those tyres in comparison to the previous ones?

nitrostarter 06.28.2010 10:19 AM

How do you like that charger? I have a brand new one, but every time I try charging something, it says "Connection Break." Any clue?

mckrill 06.28.2010 10:20 AM

Handling is surprisingly good, I think there are three reasons compared to last test-run:
1. Sway bar => general turning & stability
2. Belting of tires => better control at high speed
3. ESC - the schulze has a very direct and precise throttle response compared to the Jeti => overall control

I just got the message that the Germans sent the data-logging stuff - I hope to have it here next week..

mckrill 06.28.2010 10:23 AM

The charger has worked really, really good. (I have just tried on the Hyperion G3's, but they are surprisingly difficult for my e-Station to balance)

Nitrostarter: Check all connections including the balancing cable - otherwise I have no clue

Sounds good... the truck looks a little smoother on acceleration... nice work man.

mckrill 06.30.2010 02:55 PM

Way lot smoother, made a small test run the other day (ended up crashing..). Anyway - here is the video from the short run, starting on packed mud, then asphalt and and in the end loose shingles.

Unfortunately aren't the tires up for any full throttle drives. Got to get that new tape for belting my new tires..

ANGRY-ALIEN 06.30.2010 03:06 PM

Damn that's fast... I'm loving the sound that motor makes too.
