I am not positive but I believe the GTP to have more ground clearance. I have seen videos that would lead me believe the GTP sets up a bit higher. The suspension on the GTP appears to function very similar to a buggy and can see it travel quite a bit. The DM-1 cars have less travel and appear to handle a little closer to a 1/10th on-road. Again, these are only my opinions and do not have any real specs but am sure you could find some on Ofna's website. Cheers!

Yes I did use a tap...but you really don't need it. Just mark existing screw holes from the chassis onto the battery tray and drill them one size smaller than the screws you intend to use. Then just use the screws to tap your holes into the battery tray...

I didn't use a tap for the Ultra build and it actually worked out better...

To compare Dm1 and Gtp, which one is better for concrete street with brushless power? and which one can i get higher top speed if i use the same brushless power? I'm very newer for on-road...

Well, I prefered the DM-1 over the GTP and had the same use in mind. There are racing classes for both, I guess, with the GTP maybe a little more popular. That being said the DM-1 cars are a little more "purpose built" for on-road racing. If you have a smooth concrete or asphalt to drive on I would definitely opt for the DM-1.

I do not race but have access to huge parking lots that are very smooth here in Denver. I like to bash, so to speak, with very fast brushless cars that handle well. One thing you might consider is that since the GTP is based directly off the ULTRA buggy you will have a few more options when converting to brushless. This is my 2nd brushless conversion so I decided I was ready for the next level of challenge. The DM-1 cars may require a little more research and fabrication but that is why these forums exist (to help with those type of things!).

If you want an car that is easier to convert and have rougher pavement I would go with the GTP. If you do not require a complete out-of-the-box brushless conversion solution and have a nice track or smooth parking lots than I would recommend you get yourself the DM-1. Keep in mind there is both 1/7th and 1/8th DM-1 cars--look through the early pages of this thread and you will see.

Lastly, go to youtube and search for Kyosho GT2 or Ofna GTP and watch how those cars handle and see if you like what you see . . .

My DM-1 Spec out performs my "Ultra." I imagine the slightly longer wheelbase of 1/7 scale DM-1 makes it a better performer than the Spec version...

Here is another option, I don't race, I like to bash too. I have a hyper 7 that I converted three ways. When it's on road it's a blast cause I can launch it off curbs and small jumps without damaging the body. And how often do you see an on road jumpin? Here is two pictures of it in truggy mode and on road.
I'd say it handled just as well as my GTP in on road mode. Just takes a little patience setting it up either way.

Simple body posts are bolted to the shock tower, the bodies you can use are any 1/8 scale like for the gtp, this one is the lumina body from towerhobbies.

dm1's 2 speeds center gear has to be modified or not, if i run brushless set and how?

you'll just need an adapter for the clutch bell is all. I made mine, but i beleive they sell one now somewhere. also the motor mount of course.

Have some pictures of this adapter? Where can i buy it?
