With the agreement of “IT’S Me“ I post my step by step process to make this mod.

1: It will be cheaper if you have already:
- Center dog bone.
- 4 old and unused drive shafts. (replace 1/8 diff output shaft )

2: It cost me (include shipping cost to Canada):

- 2 x LST 2 diff = $43 us ( 43/13)
- 4 x 1/8 diff output shaft + 2 x Drive cup - 8mm bore for 1/8 diff = $50 us
- 1 Dog Bone center kit from Kershaw = $ 55
- Bow ½ pvc (Fem to Fem) + 1” join = $0.50

First, I cleaned the diffs and put Gorilla Swat in it and change the 4 diffs output.

When I put them back together and tighten the ring to the cup, it was impossible to turn the diff by hands.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...c/DSCF0011.jpg

I noticed that the RC monster output was a little bit too long so I had to shave them to the appropriate length. Once shaved the diffs output, it worked perfectly!!

Next, plastic trimming can get started. It’s better to do it slowly to not take too much material at a time. I used this dremel bit to do all the work.

I hope the pictures talk by themselves.
A lot of small adjustments is needed to achieve a perfect fit.

Then I had to shave the drive shafts a little bit too. After that, it was A LOT easier to install the pins.

finished with RCM 8mm Drive cup - Kershaw dog bone

That looks very good I am definitely doing that when my stock 3906 diff gives up :intello:

Unsullied_Spy 03.05.2009 07:50 PM

Very good writeup! This is a very good upgrade for the Traxxas trucks, the stock diffs are very weak.

The only parts i can see to fit is tihs:
http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...d=RCMdiffshaft

I thnk that i'll try to put this diff in my revo bulk, maybe i'll save lot of $$$ and don't have to buy the V" hybrid!

Actually you already have that part, just need to cut of the threads.
that peice is in the the outers of the axle shafts in revo's, where your wheels are.

Very cool Tech, I'm buying some
I used LSt diffs in my Rock crawler with Ti Ni ring and pinion

1 other thing 43/13 is stronger than 45/11.
there is more tooth contact

Ok I just received a set of hybrid bulks from RCM and I also purchased a set of Hot Bodies Diffs with hardened steel gears to go in them. I got the 10 tooth helical pinion to go with the setup and man is it beefy. I never knew that they were so heavy duty. I am truly glad that I decided to put this setup together and use it in one of my trucks just to try it out. Now I am sure that I will be purchasing more to convert my other builds. Anyway my question is this. I have everything I need to put these hybrid diffs together except for the pinion gear bearings. What is the size of those bearings and are they listed anywhere? Also is there an aluminum diff cup out there to fit these HB diffs? Any info or links would be grately appreciated. Thanks guys.

its me Build is Frekin awesome , that thing is going to be a blast to drive
I', building something similar but more of a rally sedan

Sorry to intrude
but I am reading different stories on Hybrid diffs. not all the info seems to be there
Can someone tell me what exact parts are involved ?

I read about emax/revo bulkhead with LST Diffs
but I also read Muggy diffs ..? which is it.. confused
I greatly appreciate the help, thank u

Isn't the Aftershock Diffs the same as the LST ?

Aftershock, lst1 and lst2 all use the same diffs. They have 43t ring gears and 13t pinions.

The muggy uses 45t ring gears and 11t pinions.

All of the cases fit all of the diffs. So you can run al cases on a muggy and plastic cases on a lst. I would run al in everything, but I am having good success with the plastic case in the front of my emaxx. I have an al in the rear.

You also have quite a few options on the diff cups. I run nova rc alloy cups, but the 8t heavy duty cup looks just as stong, and a bit lighter. Stock uses a plastic cup, not the best for big power...
