Exactly- if it wasn't for aftermarket improvements then people would have ditched traxxas in overall favour of HPI long ago, but companies identified the issues ( there are so many.... ) & room for improvement, and the aftermarket sector has pretty much saved traxxas due to all the options for upgrading & customizing ( upgrading being the more serious issue ). Not to mention that other companies like HPI actually fix identified issues ( weak tranny gears & diffs ) quickly, rather than waiting ~8 years to release a new model that still has many of the flaws of the previous one. The forum is a joke though- I could spend a life time time helping people and the mods still have nothing better to do than interfere & poke at people's posts ( alter wording needlessly )- the 'no non-traxxas links or discussion' is the final straw, little wonder only total beginners sign up & hang around for very long, everyone else besides the brown-nosers ( Jakey, trying to hawk his nimhs still... ) and a few masochists has left or barely posts. Shame really as it could be an invaluable place to discuss traxxas models and share tips, but sharing tips & pointers is banned, when it involves the aftermarket; China & North Korea got nothin' on the traxxas forum

I agree with this, though I want to mention that Traxxas has indeed finally taken notice of most of the issues. The current E-Maxx and E-Revo are phenomenal trucks out of the box. There is room for improvement, but the trucks no longer require upgrading out of the box. The E-Revo and E-maxx really shouldn't be classed as 1/10th scales anymore, they are the same size and weight as my 1/8th Truggy!

I just wanted to chime in and say how great the castle extreme esc on the XO-1 worked with the traxxas radio and iphone app.

I wasn't a fan the radio since it didn't have drop wheel and did sell it along with the esc seeing as with out the radio what was really the point in keeping it (also i have 2 spare MMMv3 anyways) But the software worked exactly as advertised and was pretty sweet. Hopefully this castle live software will be included in the new versions of the MMM directly from castle AND HOPEFULLY FUTABA wakes up and see's there being left behind!!! WE NEED LIKE TELEMETER SIR'S!!! GET TO WORK!

Anyways great system you guys did and i look forward to more great thing to come.

fastbaja5b 02.01.2012 01:54 AM

Yep if they could offer this castle live on the MMM XL I'd happily ditch my 3pk in favour of the Traxxas radio system

MiamizFinest 02.01.2012 02:05 AM

^^^^ i thought the same thing but i simply can not get used to driving with out the drop wheel, ive had a drop wheel on my 3PK since the first 3PK gold one and i can't get un-used to it i think.

The traxxas radio itself felt good, it didn't feel cheap at all but the wheel placement was killing me!!! But i will warn you of one thing about the traxxas radio, I DEFIANTLY did feel a small TINY MICROSCOPIC lag in steering and throttle response. If your just bashing it really wont matter, if your racing you can get away with it fine, but for me to switch over to a slower system that i can physically feel!?!? Nah i'll stick with futaba!

I hear the esc doesn't work with castle link yet ? This is no good as the xo-1 needs to be toned down a bit with throttle curves and such , hope this isn't true , can anyone who has it confirm?

That's why they have the ipod /iphone link up. You can change everything through the link. My neighbor has one and it's very cool.

No you cannot tune the esc through the remote , You need castle link for this. You can change things with the remote such as steering and throttle expo , training mode , ect. , but not esc features such as drag brake , start power , throttle curves , ect.

bruce750i 02.01.2012 02:43 PM

Yes, this is sad but true.

There are no Castle esc adjustments in the Traxxas Link App.

Traxxas says call Castle and Castle won't say for sure whats up.????

justpassedu 02.01.2012 02:48 PM

Yeah I believe Castle is working on it for castle link but this is seriously something that should have been released when they shipped the cars. Especially with one that goes 100mph , you need to tone things down. Castle maybe you can chime in on this ?

Do what? I thought being able to tune the esc on the fly through the app was the whole point of this? I thought that was a cool idea, guess I misread or was a little too hopeful for something really cool to come from this.

cmac 02.01.2012 05:31 PM

I did not realize that. I can't beieve that you are not able to adjust settings in the esc. On a car like that. I guess all the noobs that are buying these wouldn't know how to change those settings anyway.

This might be the first, but many shall follow .

Read the whole thread guys- you CAN adjust the full range of esc settings via your Iphone or iTouch, that's exactly what Castle Link Live is for. You do need the traxxas App downloaded to your iDevice though, how you get into CLL to change the esc settings I'm not sure but Patrick himself has said you can ( in this thread ), so...
