im sure he just doesnt understand how it works.
jhautz you probably know how it works because of you job or something. dont give him shit just because he is ignorant to what that type of stuff does. this is sort of off topic but in the same "i didnt know it was like that" type of situation. i used to go into restaurants and always pick my own seats and want things my way and if the server took too long id bitch...... i didnt know how it was. now that i work at a restaurant i KNOW how it works. so when i go out now im real respectfull to everyone because i know how annoying it is when people complain. im sure he didnt mean any harm but if he actually knew he was hurting all of us by doing it i SERIOUSLY doubt he would post it up on here. give him a break and stop making him feel like crap for one small thing. teach the kid a lesson. let him know what he did was wrong. |
If ignorance is the problem, then I would be doing him a dis-service by not pointing out the error.
I'm not giving him shit.... I'm posting my opinion of the situation. His opinion was that it was funny to intentionally smoke the sidewinder and not have to pay for it. My opinion is that it was not funny, but it was wasteful. Nuf said. |
maybe i just read it as you and the other guy were ganging up on him.
but ya telling your opinion is what was needed. |
Not trying to gang up on him, but that and other types of wasteful thinking cause alot of problems.
I am a big fan of accountability. Make whoever does something wrong full responsible for their actions. Too many slaps on the wrist these days. Bring back the stocks and let me throw some rotten fruit! |
Honestly, its things like that that purpetrate the idea of electrics being fragile. I hope that no smokers saw that, then they could continue their mis-information campain with proof. I too agree, that it was stupid and wasteful. If you own the hobby shop, shame on you, if you are an employee, shame on you and the owner for passing it off as defective. I have run my mamba Maxes on up to 5s with no troubles, but that was with a UBEC, I have run with BEC without troubles all day on 3s. For your next trick, Do you plan the same thing with a quark? Why not? Its more expensive and should handle it? Sorry for sounding so harsh. I have pushed my stuff and will admit it to anyone, but i do a lot of reading and take advise from those more qualified before doing something stupid. Heck i might push a sidewinder, but i'd only do it with a UBEC

Sorry I beg to differ:sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep: I have a seven and a nine year old that know better. At what point in society do we stop finding excuses for ignorance, laziness, and negligence? If you ask me sympathizers for this type of behavior are as much the problem. |

I'm with ya. It was a bad enough thing to do, and then to come on here and brag about it, wow. I just don't even know what to say. J. |
I personally think it is abuse, because he was able to take it from the shelf, deliberatly smoke it on 4s, and then say oops it was defective and send it back to CC, that is not good, first of all the LHS should have made him pay for it, wether he got a discount on it or not...but just to let him do that, and send it back...that is just bad in my book, more or less like stealing it.....and also when people do stuff like this, it is the honest customer that pays in the end, like us.

Yes I agree, this is crooked and irresponsible. I think that Castle would be very interested to hear about this. Guessing that would not be pretty for the shop or employee.

This sort of thing happens a lot with warranty returns. People do stupid things with electronics and just about everything else then complain and send them back on warranty. This is one of the big problems with mobile phones. They get wet, dropped and sat on and people try to claim warranty which makes it really hard for anyone with a legitimate warranty claim to make a successful claim. This will probably sound really stupid but don't take your mobile to the shower with you (in the bathroom with you), lots of people do it.

To some degree, it's human nature to get the most you can for the least (or none) amount of work/money/effort as possible. However, I would like to think most of the people on here are basically honest individuals and realize that when a company is scammed, they eventually end up passing the burden on the rest of the customers in the form of increasing costs. Like MBT pointed out, it makes it really hard for people with legitimate claims to get real problems taken care of. Insurance companies too pass on the financial burden to other customers in the form of increased premiums.
@MTBikerTim: I'm glad you said that, because I was just about to go take a shower with my phone. |
I also feel for CC, they provide a great product line, and appear to treat their customers well with warranty claims.
On the flip side, those who know no better are most likely the main segment that are claiming warranties. Most of my equipment has faired fine, except for a certain battery brand! I know how to use the stuff, and do research too, a trait that most of us here share. Most other people do not do this and work on the trial and error! |
Which battery brand didn't fare fine, linc?
