I will take some pics of the savage with the cen wheels when they come in, should be next week. I was going to run a 14xl on 8s lipo thru a cchv85 esc. Now I just received the 36/38/2 aveox motor (1200kv) and I think I will use that instead. The mega should be a good motor for this application. |
I will caution not going with any wider (diameter) of a motor than you need to. The motor diameter plays into how big of a battery you can fit. The 36mm can motors give you the most room. The neus and neus with fins give you less room.

will it be enough power?
i do admit i stole your idea, but it is such a good idea, i cant resist. btw, ill use the 3spd tranny, in case that brings any problems to mind. |
Just an input to the NEM chassis conversion.
A major change should be also applied to the spur gear. The Mod1 spur gears used in the Savage will not tolerate the force used to move a Savage that's 5" longer than the normal truck. I believe the spur will get stripped under pressure in a very short while. |
The SS Savages use steel spurs. Surely those wouldn't strip out. I assume you're referring to the plastic spurs?
|
ya know... ive heard people talk bad about steel spur steel pinion but i run it on my xt8 and LOVE it.
sure its a little louder but ive had so many times when the motor gets knocked loose and theres HORRIBLE mesh. but no strippage:intello: i dont think ill go to plastic/steel or anything else. |
well, heres what i got with 49/12 gearing (cant find a spur bigger than 49t for the savage x model, i will be buying the x ss kit w/o engine)

it may not actually do 55 thats just in theory.
if you do let it hit 55 please get a video of it crashing:lol::lol: |
will do. what motor do you guys think the 45/2 is eqivelant to?
|
the 22/45/2 is equal to badass. at least it seems so far in my build.
|
already figured that out. but what high-end motor has around its performance?
