  • Check Power at node 20 should be Battery voltage OK
  • Check 5V at pin 8 of SO-8 chip on the same side with MCU, node 20 is pin 1 of the same chip. ~5.6V
  • Check 10V at pin 1 of SO4A (small 6pin IC) ~5V
  • Check 10V at pin 1 of SO-8 FET drivers Are they the three next to the SO4A? If so, I get ~4.7V on each pin 1
  • Check all diodes, 3 pin IC's
  • Remove excessive heatsink compound from MCU pins

Also, when checking the FET drivers I slipped, shorted two pins, lots of smoke, and now no power :( oops

NOTE (not for Sammus): AT THIS POINT, I AM ASSUMING SKILLS BEYONG SOLDERING IN FIXING AND DEBUGING.

5V - not good should be 4.8<V>5.2
Fet's power voltage doubler doesn't work
Yes, and voltage should match output of doubler.

smoke not good, but what you can possibly short? All the power at fet's control is current limited...

Step one would be to fix 5V, than 10V. Go slowly, even remove/unsolder SO8 Fet's drivers (3 chips on the end) and restore power first. Check for shorts and blown components, remove power fet's board if it helps ( you do not need it for brains testing).

ok I got some Arctic Alumina but the guy at the store told me if i use this I would never be able to get the heat sink off is this right ??? thanks for the help

Hopefully you do not need to take heatsink off again, after the mod.
And, it is true for rated temperatures, but once you overheated it a little bit it would come loose.
And make sure to apply thin layer.

Defintely not for me!

I don't know what happened there, smoke came from one end of fet board, and from my battery terminals, everything got very hot quickly. Once it all cooled down I plugged in my battery again to investigate further and it started smoking and got hot again. I tried it again (lol) and this time nothing. No power to either board.

Nah I heard that too, I just hit it with a heatgun the same. Sure its a helluva lot stronger than the standard stuff on the MM, but once you heat it up use a knife blade or something thin and sharp to get underneath and it just pops off. The original MM just fell off once I warmed it up.

Actually I thought that you can fix it ...

Artur,

Have you by any chance drawn a complete schematic for the Mamba Max? I have the FET PCB already, but if you have drawn the rest as well I would be most appreciative for a look.

Thanks.

Same thing here, I have FET's schematic and just test points for brains PCB. I will check my records and let you know next week, maybe I have Fet's driver's part complete.
