And I have both a MBX and a Hyper7 ,and A Hyper8. The MBX is not a good buggy, but I converted it to a GTP and it is great. Hit a parked car today at 40mph and broke the front shock tower, nothing else. I did not have a body on it, though. The hyper7 is a much better buggy and I really like mine. I have not finished the hyper8 yet, but it looks very similar to the 7.

I would recommend the GTP to anyone looking for a sturdy on road car. Does a better job in that role than a buggy. I do have a solid upper plate that acts like a backbone, no chassis flex that way.

The munt you've mentioned fits the MBX?

Both vehicles use the same bulkheads, so it should fit. I do not have one, I had to make my own mount to get the kb45 to fit.

Yeah, he also has a ls10 mount now. I have a brand new in box ls10 that needs converting. Coincidence?!....

I check the store every few days, can't wait till the 1/8 center diff with the integrated slipper is released!

Check this thread. The Sportwerks Turmoil Pro ARR is super cheap right now and looks like it could be a heck of a nice buggy. If I was in the market for another buggy I'd take a serous look at this for that kind of money.

Crappy OFNA marketing. The problem is that OFNA is an importer, and they import buggies from two different manufacturers.

The quality between the two manufacturers varies greatly.

First is the HoBao Hyper series of cars. These care are FAR superior to the standard fair MBX/LX Comp based cars.

Then you have the Hong Nor line of imported cars, these cars are known under the names, MBX R2 MBX Pro, Ultra GT Worlds, Ultra LX Comp, Ultra LX 2, LX One, And then they have 9.5 versions of all the cars... etc......Its the same buggy rehashed a billion times, and its STILL Crappy. The ONLY Hong Nor cars worth anything are the Jammin series, and the 9.5 MBX Pro (identified by its yellow plastics, pillow ball suspension, and Orange anodized shock towers, this is the only MBX that can take a beating and ask for more), and finally the Jammin line of cars that Jay Halsey is pushing, which guess what, is based on the MBX line of cars.:surprised:

If you can get a Hyper 7 its a good car, a Hyper 7 PCR is a GREAT car. Light, fast, and durable. If you can drive and you showed up at a local club race with one you wouldn't be left in the dust. The only thing i find annoying about the Hyper line of cars is the lack of threaded shock bodies. The Hyper 8.5 is a good car.

So bottom line, if its an OFNA car the only ones worth looking at are the Hyper 7/8, and Jammin lines. If a 9.5 MBX Pro falls in your lap, don't turn it down, but don't go looking for one.

That said, if a Mugen MBX5 comes your way for a good price buy it. But you wouldn't be dissapointed with a Jammin.

Well so I looked at the sportwerks turmoil pro and it looks interesting. It has a good price (NEW). Anyone have any experience with this? How is quality? I wonder how hard it would be to make it brushless. I'm guessing I'll have to fab a motor mount.

Otherwise I'll stick to Jammin, MBX5, or Hyper 7 sport TQ.

Another question, if Ofna is importing then I wonder if the makers are selling then on E-bau under a different name.

There is a nice looking MBX5 roller on ebay for 200 BIN but that turmoil looks like a bargin..

Seems like the only person selling the MBX5 rollers on ebay is some hobby shop guy. Most of them are used.

Turmoil is not a bad car to start with. It gets you into 8th scales at a good price. And you can then decide later to upgrade it, or sell it and go with a different buggy.

The reason the OFNA 9.5/MBX based buggies are so bad is that they have NO upgrade path. Weak shock towers, weak rear/front brace designs, cast steel differentials that strip out easy. They just can't take abuse, nor can they be cost effectively made to handle it. The handling sucks on them too.

The Sportwerks Turmoil is a good car. I have a Mayhem which is the predecessor of the Turmoil. It is one tough car. I did have to make my own motor mount for it though. I think there may be a RC-Monster motor mount in the works soon.
