No, it just means there is nothing to keep the shoes from engaging the clutch, so they should grab pretty much as soon as there is motor rotation...

i think im gonna just go wit ha long shank pinion. it should work fine shouldnt it? im going to try another set of shoes first i think and get the pinion as well

Or you cold use a few spacers to move the motor plate away from the upright portions of the motor mount. That would place the motor closer to the spur and you could use std pinions. A 10mm al spacer, like a cable stop would do, just make sure to buy longer bolts and use thread lock to hold it all tight.

i never thought of that... well actually the long shank will cost the same as a regular gear and all, i could move it forward a little still though. thanks for the tip man. your the one who introduced me to mega right? ran it in a truggy? what voltage did you run yours on?

No problem, I think that lutach may have steered you towards the mega. I would like to try one out, but have too many motors already!

I think he ment 'flat'. Just a piece of 10mm thick piece of aluminium behind each side of where the front part of the motor mount mounts to other part- pushing the motor further forwards when its bolted in place.
