Dan @ ultramaxxed has had a couple of sets made since some said they weren't going to be made any longer. I'd suggest you contact him about whether he will have them made from time to time. He's got three sets in stock now. You could just start with the idlers from Mike and upgrade to the UltraMaxxed if necessary. I'd say it also depends on the motor/ESC. For the HV-Maxx, the UltraMaxxed isn't needed IMO.

The UM gears are heavy, too. The single speed and idl;ers make for a nearly bullet proof tranny, so I truly don't see the need for the ultramaxxed gears, unless you are running absolutely sick power and drive it like its stolen( the Novak is nowhere near "sick power").
|
booda Are you running the jumbo kong tires? The ones that are like 8 inches tall. They going to put alot of strain on the diffs if so. You may think about going ue diffs. If not such a big tire you should be good with the aluminum diff cups. I don't think you need the ultra maxxed gears for tranny. I put some power on mine and have had no problem. Just don't get the light weight input shaft. They won't take the punishment.

o.k. thanks, Ill go with the idler arms from mike, then see what happens.
mike you said HV MAXX is nowear near sick power. Im new at this but this thing seems pretty mean for a bolt on kit. But if I did want more power ( in other words if the nitro trucks keep out running my son) what would you sudgest with a mid range budget? Now I know the big tires slow it down. we dont run those when he wants to race, but they are our favorite to play with at home, and they grab everyones eye too lol. |
9920/7xl/heatsink-clamp will make the Novak look like the titans.

Two thumbs up from me. Good choice on the RC vehicle, btw. BL Monsters are all the fun! The regear formula is no big deal, just compare the stock tire circumfence to your big tires circumfence, and change the gearing in the same ratio. Let us know if you need some more help. |
Cool thanks guys, I have to be ohnest with you since Im new, the HV MAXX looked a little more simple for me to install. I currently have a t maxx but after building A.J.'s e maxx, and looking at your site I would love to take my time and build one BAD G MAXX lol, but I would need your help as I go.Ill get ajs going good then start building one for me and him to share lol ( just for the nitros )
P.S. I realy thank all of you for your time you dont know how much youve helped me, and mike Im on your E.M. list for the idler gears thanks your great, Aaron (aka Booda) |
You're welcome. This is the best place for any info concerning EMaxx and Brushless.
The Gorilla chassis is a nice piece of workmanship. Great value. Combine this with the fast shipping and nice prices you'll get from Mike, and the support and help you'll find here, and you'll have a totally awesome RC with no more un-answered questions. But be warned, this stuff is highly addictive :) |
Don't worry booda. We all had to start somewhere. Get us a pic of your rc. I like big tires. Glad to have another fella rcer around. The 7xl mike was talking about. It will make the novak look like a single titan on your truck. :) It gets my vote. Good luck on rcing. I think daf is right. It is addictive.

Yea, my wife would agree with you it is adictive. I tell her its my guy thing lol she understands. Ill have to fiqure out how to send ya some picts of his truck, but Ill wait and get you some of it in action. (waiting on his ultra diffs now). If I would have known about this site before I would have bought them from mike, but Im sure Ill be purchasing from him quite a bitt lol. thanks, Aaron

It truely is addictive!! Dafni and I have even got a therapist for our problems.. (some call him Mike..)
I'm sorry for cutting in so late, but perhaps you find some gearing help in the XLS sheet i included, it just is a simple layout, but it might help you out. Based on stock gears/diffs.. it can be changed very easy to UE diffs.. (other ratio) |
Thanks, for the cheat sheet serum. :)

Very nice sheets, boys! Thanks.
I always wanted to make some proper excell sheets, but this program makes me dizzy. I always did it just with a pocket calculator. This sheet will make my life so much easier:D |

I wish I had uploaded the proper spreadsheet. Please give this one a try and if a mod can delete the previous one, I would appreciate it. I can add more tires and motors if someone wants.
Rene, I was wondering about the 1.05 volts versus the 1.2. I was also wondering about incorporating Lipo into the equation, but I don't know what if anything would need to be changed. I haven't gone down the Lipo path yet. |
