Why do you want to use the VXL esc? You have a MM that can handle 5s, the MM is alot more adjustable and it can handle multipole motors:wink:
If you want a cheaper option than the Neu 1509 take a look a this: It can handle up to 74k rpm http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...cn10car&cat=20 |
well because i want to keep the MM in the raze and the vxl esc comes with the truck. i like that mega :D

I know this is old but does anyone know if they VXL esc will handle 4pole motors like Neu's?
|
Yes they do run 4pole motors. I have one pushing a Medusa 36x60x2000 in my slash. Its pretty lame right now geared 17/40 on a 3s. Here is a clogging test I shot at lunch.

Ok. I may have a bad connection then. It was acting funny trying to run my Neu 1509.

Direct solder the motor wires...
Also may want to check your main plugs. Plus you most likely have it geared to high and have bad bearings, plus water in the tires! |

as far as what a velineon motor can handle, with a motor fan, very brief bursts on 5S. meaning 6-7 seconds at a time, max. Even after that, you're gonna already be about 185-190 degrees. i've gotten one up to 245 degrees by running 3 speed passes on 5S. it's a very fine line since their only supposed to be running 50K max rpms and their rpm limits aren't very forgiving. mambas have been known to far surpass their rpm limits and the new bearings they have in their motors make them able to handle very very high rpms for short periods of time. most of the TC3-4 -5 guys are runnning the 7700 or 5700's and regulary run them on 4-6S |
I killed a vxl motor on 4s before the batteries could go dead. The vxl esc can hardly run the vxl motor and stay cool. The mamba maxx esc can run 5s only with a external bec.
I would not recomend running the vxl esc or the vxl motor beyond recommended specs. They just cant handle it. |
I ran the 1509 on the VXL esc again and it didnt seem to work right. It was like it was hitting a rev limiter and the speeds weren't anywhere near what they should be. I don't think the VXL will run a Neu properly.
So I took my MMM out and soldered some 6.5mm connectors to the 1509 and install this combo. Took a few test runs on 3s and everything worked fine! |
