seems simple enough. again what caps should i use to do it and where can i pick some up? i will probably make it like either lutach's or Fkyx's drawings. something easy to remove if i ever want to put it onto a different truck or esc or anything.

brushlessboy16 05.27.2008 04:49 PM

the principal is the same, i just did mine differently, or he can do like the ebay person did and mount it on a board

Revracer 05.27.2008 04:53 PM

i still have not had an answer. what caps should i use? would the really high Uf Novaks be ok? the like 8200 and 4700 ones? that be really simple wouldnt it?

brushlessboy16 05.27.2008 05:05 PM

Yeah Novaks will work, there will just be a big spark when u plug it in to charge the caps

suicideneil 05.27.2008 05:26 PM

Low esr, 25v, 105*C caps- capacity isnt too important so long as there is a fair bit, say between 1000-5000uf in total. I added another 4700uf cap to my hvmaxx and it runs much cooler, and smoother towards the end of the run.

Fkyx 05.27.2008 06:00 PM

If I were to run one of these with the CCBEC, would I throw them inline before or after the BEC going from battery to ESC.

Revracer 05.27.2008 06:04 PM

so adding a 4700 cap to a mamba max will probably be a good idea? just one should be fine? or should i get more smaller ones? and i probably wont be runnign a CCBEC

suicideneil 05.27.2008 06:05 PM

Flyx- Before, if you start at the esc end of things looking at it. The Bec can be wired anywhere on the power wires really, but the caps need to be close to the esc as possible.

Just one will be fine- exactly the same as GriffinRU's stage one mod uses.

Revracer 05.27.2008 06:35 PM

and adding 2 will be better or is there a point where you cant get any better? and if i add 2 i will be spending almost as much as that deck....

lutach 05.27.2008 07:42 PM

I'm planning on adding around 4-5 axial 1000uF 50v caps in parallel to give me around 4000-5000uF. It should make a nice little spark, but I'm fine with that. I got used to 10 and 12S sparks.

Revracer 05.27.2008 08:31 PM

spark? so adding a cap or two will make it spark? either way one 4700 will be plenty enough for a MM on 3s lipo?

You should be fine with that one big cap.

Revracer 05.27.2008 08:35 PM

alright so less than half the price of the one on ebay for something that will be just as good if not better... will there be a noticeable difference in the truck? or is it something that just kinda helps smooth everything out? worth $10?

lincpimp 05.27.2008 09:10 PM

Should help temps by 10 to 20 deg. I would run a ccbec and disable the mm internal bec. That will drop temps on the esc quite a bit, and is definately worth 20bucks. Plus the ccbec is adjustable via the castle link. Out of the two, the bec will be the better mod for 3s use.
