Thanks guys! I posted them on my forum I am admin at and some actually thought they were photoshopped. But they are not. That area we run in is Disneyland for Baja's. My wifes family owns the entire gravel pit. It is really impressive when you are actually down it with 60 foot high gravel piles and flying off the top of them. Pictures do no justice to this place. That looks like quite an amazing bashing spot to drive at!! :yes: I think that price for the FD baja is way over the top for it though. The craftsmanship is not that great, and it uses poor quality batteries and a not very known ESC...

As cool, as the baja would be as an electric, if I got one, it would stay gas for most of its life. Remember, it is not nitro so it does not need tuning, and there is very little upkeep to go with it. I think something that big would be awesome to bash. I also like the sound, and I have p[laces to run it, so it would add perfectly to my current fleet of rc's. :yes:

I think 6s is a little low for that buggy. Definitely should have used a 12s capable controller. OR just sell it with two 5s packs since the controller can handle 10s. Motor wind may need to be changed but w/e. Honestly, 50 mph is too slow for even a 1/4 scale buggy with 8HP in it!

saw this buggy about 5 days ago, when searching for neu motors... and honestly, i didnt think that this buggy was suited to electric, esp lipos... if i ever got one, it would be through mud and gravel and sand and all those places smaller cars dont like going... and its cheaper than most brushless conversions... the reason im prolly not going to get one is the fact that they weigh almost 10kg and if that hit you it would do some serious damage, and the space required is not available in a small backyard in suburbia!

but a nice idea, 14s a123 would be awesome, the amps could be provided i think with a 2p setup and wouldnt really matter about the weight.

leave it gas, those motors run allot longer and are way easier to maintain than a small 2 stroke. You could buy 2 1/2 5b's for the price of the brushless version.

The 5B retails for $899 with all the gas parts, there is no way this is worth more than $2000+ that price considering no gas parts

The SS maybe? Street price for the 5B RTR varies from $900-1000 typically.

I have a Baja SS and there's no way really that I would even consider making it electric. Mine runs through mud, dirt, puddles and trees lol; all places where I'd be scared to put almost $3k worth of electric stuff near, at least not without some industrial strength waterproofing. Plus it sounds awesome, especially with a decent exhaust.

I don't really see how it can compare:

On a full tank of gas I get between 30-45 min of run time, depending on how hard I am on the throttle. I doubt those batts would be able to provide more than 20 min. Even then, you gotta recharge for an hour. You could spend an extra $400 on a second set of batts, but then you'd be through them also before the first set was done charging. You'd also need some pretty serious power supply goodness to charge em in the field.

When I run out of fuel, I just put more in and off I go again :D. No need to wait for stuff to cool down, or for batts to charge. Usually if I have to wait longer, its because I broke something :D

As for durability, its 6 one way and half a dozen the other. My Hyper ST is only around 7kg. The Baja is close to 14kg... Nuff said lol. I have hit trees, poles, done huge jumps and had crazy crazy crazy cartwheels, and so far the only thing I've broken is the plastic spur gear a few times. They're fine out of the box.
