I did that last night, Yes the Novak 30X30 fan fits.

Pshaw! Who cares about a warranty! I say MOD IT!

I still think the MMM can be used without a fan for the majority of the setups on here. Just look at the MM with no fan currently being run in MTs, buggies, etc - and that's on 4s (or a few on 5s). At 6s, current will be lower (assuming geared for the same speed), so there should be less heat. And I assume the total rdson value of a 200A ESC is lower than a 100A ESC, so there should be less v drop on the FETs for a given current, which equates to less heat.

Nice "No-Fan" Avatar :)

Some Pics and Instruction would be nice, how to fix the new fan(Castle,Novak..?).

BrianG 06.03.2008 04:13 PM

And that's the actual fan from the MMM.

Putting in a new fan is simple. Pop open the case, press the itty-bitty tab on the fan plug, pull plug out, remove ESC guts, and pop fan out. Reverse the order to install a new one.

I have a hard time understanding the warranty is VOID if NOT using a fan.

The POOR design of the fan in the esc makes it IMPOSSIBLE to run with a running fan.

Those things break within minutes of use.
Why did you not steal the design of the concept that works with modded MMs?

does running a wire mesh or screen help save the fan. the fan on my old MM lasted about a month before it stopped.

FG101C 06.03.2008 09:59 PM

My fan died at about the ten minute mark. Is there a common pc fan with a matching plug that is better? I really don't see the point in calling tech support for another fan that will take longer to replace than it lasts. Now that I have it out one of the fins is broken too. I did not drive the truck that hard today. Think I had one bad landing.

This is what I'm doing. I have 4 8Ah packs through it and no broken fan. Three of those packs were at a track, so lots of dirt.

Bye:mdr:

I have heard of a few plugs snapping off the MMM board, so if this happens you would have to send it back to CC and not connect the fan to another power supply? Will it void your warranty at all by running a CC BEC or RX Battery?
Can email CC at all as the phone call from Australia will probably cost more that a box of fans? And will it just get sent regular post (3 -4 weeks to Australia?)

killjoyken 06.04.2008 12:30 AM

BrianG, I really don't understand your hatred (and it is a hatred!!) of fans. Placing a fan on a heatsink drops temps by 20-30F. Cooler is more efficient, correct? Why is this bad?

Pics of Novak fan installed. I'm not going to bother trying it out unless my Castle fan fails.

:grrrrrr:Sounds like you boys need to get some fans in stock!!! I'll take 6 please. That should last me a week or so, then I'll place another order. Oh yea... and a flip top esc case would be nice so I don't have to tear the whole dang thing down every 30 minutes or less of run time to replace a fan. I already have 2 tabs breaking off of one of my cases from opening and closing it so much for fan maintenance. While your at it add a couple new cases to the fan orders.

One of the white plugs has already completely broken off of the circuit board from hitting the bottom of the case so I cant even run a fan on it the way it was designed. I guess I'm out of luck on that one. Oh well... when it dies, it dies. Hopefully the Tekin controller is available by then.

Warranty void if running without a fan is the craziest thing Ive ever heard since I haven't heard of a stock installed fan lasting more than an hour. :grrrrrr:

++++1!!!!

Heres a picture of the bulletproof 1/8 controller. Does this void the warrantee? Its the only way I can keep a fan on it.

Your right. It is kinda hard to take a good temp with the cage on it. I get the highest readings shooting straight down the top fan hole to the heatsink. I'm sure the internal temperature is significantly hotter than the reading off of the top of the heatsink, but we will proobably never know for sure.

YES!!! I must have the only magic fan! :surprised: I've just squeezed past the 1 hour mark! :na:

Damn, now I've jinxed myself....watch it break tomorrow.

jhautz 06.04.2008 12:56 AM

:lol:Yea, you must. Whoo Hoo!!!! We found one. Now just clone it and send one like it to all of us.

Just curious? What are you doing with the MMM? I think they might be OK if you are just running it around the street or in the park or something. But any kind of rough handeling and they are toast. Mine ran fine all thru set up and some testing at the local park, but the minute I put it on the track it was a gonner.

DRIFT_BUGGY 06.04.2008 01:04 AM

Can't see why you can't cut off those 4 tabs as they can't be doing much, probably get more air flow and easier to take temps

And you haven't done nothing to it from factory, still original?
