Fun truck, I should post up a few pics on it.

Hey I have a mini-giant too (AKA A-tech Mini Monster)! I tried to not crawl with it and that was a bad idea. Check out this video I made of it when I just got my crappy old Rustler.

I beg to differ my friend..

This forum is totally awesome; we’ve got some of the brightest gentlemen in the industry here willing to exchange ideas and rederrick. It’s apparent that you don’t have a crawler but you’re looking for ideas. That’s cool.. But you may want to think about phrasing your questions differently in the future.

If you ask for help you will get it! lot’s of it (most great advise) :yipi:
If you ask for a showdown IE (Bring it!) we will call you to the mat every time.

Boys will be boys.. :mdr:

Welcome to the Forum CM, I hope you enjoy your visits here, I know I always do.

no nitro fans here since it is an electric forum...you might want to try the Traxxas site

You got that right :intello::lol:.

I have seen some pretty cool videos of nitro crawlers. This was 3 or 4 years ago though and I haven't seen many since and I suppose that is mainly due to most people going electric. It was pretty cool watching savages crawl though.

Hey guys, this is a somewhat interesting project. I am not a nitro fan, but lets try and help him out. I have half a dozen maxx trucks and so do alot of other members here. Lets see what we can do for him!

Wild shot in the dark idea here:

If you really want a low ratio, and do not mind making some stuff, you could adapt a new emaxx tranny to the tmaxx. That way you could use the optional wide ratio 2 speed setup. It gets a low gear in 1st, very low. You would have to make up some sort of mech brake mount. And would not have reverse, and would need to add a shift servo if you wanted to use high and low gears.

Sounds interesting to me...

Nah, I could care less what you run. Not like I have to hear or smell it!!!

I like to see other peoples custom projects, nitro or electric. It beats looking at pics of peoples bolt together vehicles, no fun in that!!!

Arct1k 06.23.2008 08:21 AM

See here for a Traxxas revo nitro crawler project for a few pointers re gearing...

crawler max 06.23.2008 12:27 PM

thanks. now i have a few things to try.

suicideneil 06.24.2008 07:22 PM

Also, try the crawler forums for max based crawlers and gear reduction ideas:

http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/index.php

We do love custom vehicles and trying new things, but this is a 99% electric forum after all. A nice reduction box of some sort would be cool, as would truggy ratio diffs to lower the overall drive ratio- need some FLM hybrid bulks, UE ultralites, or the LST/Muggy diffs for that.

What's_nitro? 06.24.2008 09:37 PM

I don't know how you would make it fit on a Maxx, but the portal axles from RC4WD would help lower your speed. They have a ratio of 1.5:1.
