Or should I call the boat man back and tell him to order me a 1515/2.5d smooth can. Let me know what you think bro!

You will not need a gear drive tranny, that is more for brushed motors. Direct drive is much more effecient, and does not break. I would have him mod it to take direct drive. No real need for the neu, as long as your water cooling works properly.

Ok thanks I'll call him back in the morning and ask him some more questions I have another week or so to get this sorted out thanks for the info man. By the way the hatch is some new design that don't use tape it locks down with screws.

Use tape, I have not found another way to truly keep water out when the boat flips. If you want to really ask the pros, go to the offshoreelectrics forums. And the store is great too. Really nice guy named Steven owns OSE, and he is basically the Mike of electric boating. Well, maybe not quite, but he is extremely helpful and ships super fast. Plus he keeps good stock too.

Thanks lincpimp, I will certainly contact steve for boat info and boat goodies. I already ordered some cooling stuff from him with very fast communication and shipping. My new screw down type hatch has some kind of built in seal that stays put..I will just have to see what it's all about when I get the boat. I am going to keep my 1515/1y smooth and try to dial back some of the speed with gearing and radio adjustments and if its still to fast I will grab a 1515/2.5 and use the 1y in my rc8 buggy on 4s (I hope the smooth runs cool enough). Thanks for your all your input I value it.
