Novaktwo, are you saying I can send my HV-maxx ESCs to be upgraded for $65 each? one of it wasn't running so I opened it up and found the internal cap leaking, so I replaced that and now working alright. Replaced both external caps too. Both running at the same time.

I have had good success with the smaller novak motors, and their SS and GTB escs. Nice to see Novak providing more options in the higer voltage section of their product line.

I have not had much success running my 6.5hv motor with a MM. Even with the newest firmware, it does not like starting the motor from a standstill. It is in a rcm chassis crt.5, with a MM and a Neu 5000mah 25c 3s lipo. Gearing is 15/47 (custom plastic spur). I may be overgeared and undervolted, it does seem that way....

I would like to get some time on the motor with 4s lipo in something.

You can return you old HVs for replacement for the charges listed in the replacement options chart and on the NW service form (both linked above)----whether working or non-working or modified. We send all items returned for replacement to our rmf department, where they are completely dis-assembled, cleaned in our ionic washer, and re-assembled and tested by the same employees and same QA testing equipment as our new items.

I did learn that the replacement HVs do not include a new Smart Stop lipo cut-off module. If a customer returns his lipo module with his esc, we send it back with the upgraded, re-manufactured, programmable HV controller. We also clip off and return any costly connectors (e.g. Deans).

We are still in the prototype stage for the 6s controller---Bob ran the protos for his testing of the new conversion kits.

Great news. If you can get a 6s sensored system out before I buy more MMM and Neu's I will definetly buy one. I really like Novak motors in my 10th scale stuff.:rules:

Yesterday was the first day that we began shipping the new 4.5 and 6.5 HV Pro systems out to our distributors in the all-new HV Pro packaging.

The new 5.5 and 7.5 HV Pro systems and the stand alone HV Pro controllers will be shipped starting next week. All these new HV Pro products that started shipping yesterday feature the newly re-designed HV Pro speed control with the built-in Smart Stop circuitry, higher-rated mosfets and fully upgraded programmability:

Three profiles, nine adjustable programming parameters:

Minimum Brake (10 settings from 0-30%)
Drag Brake (10 settings from 0-30%)
Dead Band (5 settings from 2-6%)
Minimum Drive (5 settings from 1-12%)
Throttle Curve (Linear & Expo)
Brake Frequency (7 settings from 1-8 kHz)
Brake Disable,
Motor Rotation
Auto-detect Li-Po Cut-Off

All of the new system features can be seen here, with links to the individual pages for the HV Pro motors and the HV Pro speed controls:

THE HV SYSTEMS REINVENTED AND BETTER THAN EVER

A Peplacement Option re-cap.......

All original HV controllers returned for replacement will be exchanged for a remanufactured (orig) HV controller upgraded with most of the new programming options listed above.

The rmf version will still require the external Smart Stop lipo module (a new SS module is not included with the rmf esc for the price of $65.00.) But the rmf controllers will have our new 2s-4s Transcap Module installed.

The soon to-be-shipped HV pro controller (#3221) is a different controller with new PCBs. At this time, we are not offering it (as an upgrade) as part of our replacement options program. We generally add new items to the program 3-4 months after we begin shipping.

Just for clarification, Novaktwo. If you send old esc and 65.00 for non warranty replacement, you get the previous HV without the 4s cut-off? If so, what would it take to return for upgrade hv-pro? If it doesn't have the built in cut-off, its not worth trading in to me. Its a great deal if you need it fixed, to upgrade. How about the motors? i got a 4400hv with a sintered upgrade, how much to send and replace for a 7.5hv w/5mm shaft? Thanks and i await you're answer

I think NovakTwo mentioned that in a few months (3-4 months after release) they will start allowing you to replace your HV-Maxx with an HV-Pro, same situation with the motor I am guessing.

Of course, my reply is not official (I am just a customer) so hopefully NovakTwo will reply and answer your question with more certainty.

cmcclive was correct. It will be several months before we add the new Kv HV motors and the HV Pro controller to our NW remanufacture, Replacement Options program. It takes quite a while to start getting enough new items back for service to then remanufacture them and add to the program.

The original HV-Maxx can be upgraded to the new service replacement version by re-programming the microprocessor, while the new HV Pro is completely redesigned firmware and hardware. So it is a new controller, even though externally it looks the same.

The Novak customer service is pretty awesome.

So if I wait 3-4 months I can send my HV-Maxx in for an upgrade to the new Pro with 2-4s Lipo Cutoff? I can wait....

As awesome as we are...:yes:I have to add that we have not yet set the price of the upgrade to the HV Pro speed control. It will be more than $65.00. It is a different controller, and frankly we could go out of business if we offered to upgrade 4 year old speed controls to a new version for too little $$$!

We do currently allow customers who return GTBs for service to request any one of five different GTB versions in exchange for no upcharge. We like to establish "win/win" exchange service policies whenever possible. With BL motor exchanges, we allow customers to choose any sintered, wind they want in exchange for about 10.00 additional.

For example, when we added the lipo to the GTB, we received a lot of the original GTBs back for exchange. We had very little use for that many orig GTBs for the exchange program, so we offered them, remanufactured, on SAT for 99.00 to 119.00 and they sold like hotcakes. Likewise, too many of some wind reman 540 motors can be offered in the store for a good price.

NovakTwo I sent you a PM could you please replie to it,thank you.

jocktheglide 08.10.2008 08:19 PM

I remember back in like 2002 or so I sent in my novak SS4400 or something like that their first brushless setup. Charlie emails back asking for more information and viola about within a week or week and half I was sent a new one....I have to say novak was incredible customer service I sent in a HV 4400 same deal all within warranty. I Paid one time due to it being out of warranty and same excellent customer service every single time.

i have a hvmaxx 4.5 system (broken) that i want to upgrade to the hvmaxx pro w/ 6.5 and a 5mm shaft, however i am having a hard time filling out the paperwork....

i need to do this in the next couple of weeks:lol:

can you tell me how i need to fill out the paper work and also do i need to pay the extra $15 per component because they are the new version?

so what is the total cost for a trade up to the newer esc. and also change the motor for a diff. turn

thanks so much:yes:

NovakTwo 08.11.2008 12:11 PM

Hi entjoles,

I just checked our exchange program and was surprised to see that we have already opened up the HV Pro motor exchange to the new 5.5 and 7.5 wind motors. Learn something every day!

Here is how the motor exchange works: You can exchange your existing HV 4.5 motor for any other 5mm shaft HV Pro wind motor for $45 (exchange price) plus $10 (exchange fee) You really don't need to purchase a new motor, since the RMF motors all have a new 120 day warranty.

We will not be adding an HV esc exchange into the newest HV Pro esc (with built-in lipo cut-off) for a couple of months yet. But you will receive a RMF HV esc with all of the new programming that still requires an external 4cell Smart Stop module (not included). The exchange price is $69.

Just print and fill out one of the non-warranty (PDF) service forms linked at the top of both of the Replacement Options pages and follow the directions on the form. If you have questions, let me know.
