i put deans on my stampede i had 10 years ago and since then ive put them on every single r/c ive owned. They are simple and reliable and small.
i have put a few traxxas plugs on for people and i do and dont like them but they could never be good enough to make me switch my 25+ plugs i have on everything to over to traxxas, itd cost a small fortune in plugs. |
I don't run brushes and I don't use solder so Power Poles for me. :intello:

My vote goes to:
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g4...d/DSC00105.jpg These are the 5.5mm bullets. I like them for a few reasons: 1: Very easy to solder. You cant overheat/warp them. 2: Much larger contact area than most other connectors, thus less resistance. 3: The cross-sectional area of the conductor is tha same as a 10AWG wire so they can handle loads of current as well. 4: They aren't too large. Though I've seen them in sizes up to 10mm. :surprised: Deans are OK, but if I were to use them I would use a whole connector on each wire. That would be about the same as using these 5.5mm bullets. |
I use deans for battery to ESC connections and 5.5mm bullet connectors for ESC to motor connections.

Deans

I used deans 2 years without any problem :)
|
Deans. i have so many i couldn't switch if i wanted to.
|
i use traxxas much better then deans imo, bigger, and can handle more amps
|
Even though i'm selling all my batts and Motor, I'm staying with Deans for the batteries and 6mm gold plugs from LMT for the motor.
|
just curious, isn't the point of a poll thread to actually have a pole in it so people can vote.
|
My favorite is the TRX connectors because from what Ive seen they have a tad more metal to metal contact area than deans plugs.
|
IMO
between the Deans and Traxxas connectors there is not enough difference to be concerned about(if there is any) especially if you run 5s or higher |

Deans. If I ever feel the deans getting warm at all I'll think about changing. Until then I wouldn't bother changing everything over. Way to much stuff. 5.5mm bullets on esc to motor connection on everything. that way motors batteries escs whatever can be swapped around model to model for testing different configurations. I'm a tinkerer and rarely run the same setup in a truck for very long before the urge to try something else strikes me. I play musical motors, esc, batteries all the time.
I read an article a while back that tested a bunch of these connectors. I cant remember which magazine it was, but the conclusion I remember was that Deans, Traxxas, 5.5mm bullets all tested as basically invisible when soldered in series on a 12 gauge wire. if the resistance of the plug is equal to an equivalent length of 12ga wire then its good enough for me. |
