I suppose I'll do a spud gun showcase. Go to www.spudfiles.com for all your spud gun planning needs.
Specs: 6' barrel 16" combustion chamber 2 spark bbq ignition .8:1 C:B ratio Metered Propane fueled 10 seconds of airtime shooting straight up on an average shot Cost about 65 dollars for gun and meter Not very accurate Towers 7 1/2' tall Anything else you want to know just ask me. |

Nope, we're out of fries. Are some tots ok?

speaking of potatoe guns when I was making them I would aim for the barrel to be twice as long as the combustion chamber, and also getting the fuel and air mixture right was critical...as far as fuel I never used propane...in the beginning I used Right Guard pit spay but it can leave a funky smell and also the less you use the better...my fav fuel turned out to be the spray Orange engine degreaser( it shares some of the same ingredients as gun powder mostly Carbon and Sulfur)
here is a link to some fuels that have been tried http://www.aaroncake.net/spuds/boom.asp |

PROs: Reacts with regular matter emmiting 100% photons at 100% efficiency, projectile should easily reach the Earth's escape velocity, excellent muzzle flash (once), no residue (no gun either), very little fuel needed per shot (a few billionths of a gram). CONs: Chamber could possibly comprise of rings of high speed rotating magnets (expensive) to avoid fuel contact with chamber walls (bad), hard to transport (expensive), hard to obtain (expensive), may result in a negative effect on the Earth's natural rotation and balance (bad), very dangerous (a helmet and eye protection should be worn).  Yes, I know. I added some things... :oh: It's a toss-up between antimatter and hairspray... |
i gots a potato gun, hmm i should shoot it today
