so is hobbycity the only place that sells zippys?

Mister-T 08.11.2008 12:15 AM

yes it is, zippy is a brand from Hobbycity. Like HXT, Turnigy. The owner alway told that many brand use the same cells as them en sold them 2x the price. I'm pretty sure ualsky use the same source and they are around 50% more expensive.

Honestly HC did improve quit a bit, And there battery are really a good deal. They source directly from factory and you pay for the battery not for the marketing bullshit.

Great result for the Zippy .
I will be using the same pack H 5s 4000mah for heats and my 5s 4350mah PQ for longer finals .

For the price and quality you can't beat the Zippys and i thank Jeff for getting me onto these batteries.

bustitup 08.11.2008 09:20 AM

yes thanks for this awesome information...I just ordered two of the
ZIPPY-H 5000mAh 3S1P 20-30C Lipoly Packs.......at 139.50 delivered its a no brainer....i'm hoping these will perform up to par with my just aquired 1515/2.5d in my e-revo..well thats if I ever get my mmm but intell then they should be fine for my twin velinion converted revo

Remember, no overcharging, no over discharging (better play safe and set cut off around 3.1 volts). Balancing on every charge and store them half charged.
Most Digital charger do have a storage mode for Lipo, use it !

when you say set cutoff at 3.1 volts you mean in the esc computer link settings right?

Mister-T 08.11.2008 12:01 PM

Yeah the esc computer link, the voltage i gave you is per cells so if you plan to run 6S that mean

6 x 3.1 = 18.6 volts

so learn me something here...does that mean with that setting that when you use up 18.6 volts on the batteries which is 22.1 volts, that the system will shut down?

cornolio 08.11.2008 12:29 PM

i too ordered the zippy r pack and they work great.got them in 3 days.isnt the zippy r better than the zippy h?i store my packs full charge,is that wrong?

nitrostarter 08.11.2008 12:41 PM

I too am using the R 4800 4s packs. I love them. True mAh readings, and good strong voltage. I noticed a significant difference in switching to these packs from a pair of Polyquest 3700 20C's. Its amazing how much the C's rating plays into the performance of packs.

If you are leaving it for a few weeks-1mo then I don't worry about a full charge. If you are storing them longer it should be @ 50% charge. I know my lipo charger has this setting and it works great. Long term storage @ full charge can damage the batt chemistry.

You start with 22 volts in your battery, as you use it voltage decrease, once you reach the voltage limit (18.6 volts) the power cut off

Just for fun this is a missed movie, My Mamba max cut off right in front of the camera :). (Download might be very slow overseas)

so,which is better,zippy h or zippy r.im thinking of ordering again.thanks

Mister-T 08.11.2008 02:39 PM

I have both. But I can hardly see a difference quality wise there are both great, performance wise I can't give an accurate and truly "scientific" value.
I think zippy R are better mostly because they use large wire and cells are spaced with a small layer of foam between each which help to reduce heat
