sylv motor is a 1515 2.5d (1700kv, we are talking about 1512 2.5d (2050kv)
keep with what you got atm i reckon .. see if you can make the 30 mins . if not you might have to look for just a bit bigger battery ( 6000mah - 8000mah ) for my long runtime setup im planning on buying a flightpower 10s 3700mah pack , and split it so its 5s2p which = 7400mah , they are not much bigger or heavier than a flightpower 5s 5000mah pack |
well i did 2 packs with the 1512 2.5d (2050kv)
hyper 8 4s flight power 4900mah geared 13/46 MM with fan , lvc 15v , 5deg , low start power , 50% punch control 1st pack , i picked up , wasnt fully charged , so it was a gear warm up the second pack just bashing in the park , turns and top speed runs. 14 mins motor and esc both 70deg C sorry to offend but anyone that gets 35-40 mins runtime from the same setup is either talk (*&^&^ or they must never touch the throttle over 50% ( eg very skatey slippery track) |
Ill time my car today with track use and get back to you with the time.
Im sure if there was a 6000mah flightpower pack you could do 30 minutes with your 1512 2.5d. I accidently got the 1515 instead of the 1512 but im not complaining since i got it a 1515 at the cost of a 1512 :) |
that be sweet , get a time .. oh thats right you the lucky one to get it from the parts bin at neu !! bargain !!
hey can u find a grass park or something and just do , a fast bash session there and see what sorta run times you get driving hard on grass (short cut) . im thinking the traction is what might drain alot of runtime |
Okay so im back from the time test.
mixed grass running with some tracktime. Duration: 30:51 before the lvc kicked in! I used a stopwatch and i never stopped to check temps so it wasnt babied. Its a very accurate reading so i can cheerfully say i get 30+ min runtimes with a single 4s 5000 :) |
now lets see a 30 minute video :P nice job!
|
WOW!,I ordered the 50t spur, and I ordered the tekno long shank pinions for tekno today.
I ordered a 12 and a 13t,I will try the 12 to see if the batt temps come down and the runtime should go up,I hope so anyway. Is there any drawback to running the pinions and using the mechanical brakes still. I'm going to keep the mechanical brakes to try and save the mah as much as possible. I know it is not much, but every little bit helps.Would running the pinions help put some"charge" back in the batt's when off power since the motor still turns or does it not work like a brushed motor in that aspect? Thanks again guys, Kevin |
Here is a link to the race results from this weekend.
Both classes were 15min mains,I was running the e-revo and the e-8 http://www.triplenickelrc.com/raceresults81708.htm I was running the buggy pretty hard,I was only hit full throttle on the straightaway though,it is too fast on the infield |
I run the buggy again today with gearing 13/50 and the motor heated up to 170 after the 15 min main.
I also lost some runtime, the batt took 4000 mah when it normally takes between 2500-3000 mah after the 15 min mains we run at our club races. would being undergeared cause the extra capacity to be used?I pretty sure the motor temps were up because of the undergearing |
Defiantly a factor which could have reduced runtimes, id try 15/50 and try again.

thanks will try
