OK I have the choice of ordering a 9xl to hold me over until the cc/neu motors come out or go straight for a Tekno neu 1515 2.5d. Azjc thinks the power on 4S of the 2.5d would be disappointing though. I'm thinking that a little less power might be a good thing so that it would be a little more managable. If the neu motors are the quality and strength they have the reputation for I would hope it could pull 54/20-54/22 gearing which would give me the speed I'm after. Otherwise it's a 9xl with 62/20 gearing to get my speed, until I can get a cc 1515 1y. Thoughts?

A 1515 2.5DF on 4s is still a very powerful motor and will gear up very well...

Thanks for the input Arct1k, looks like I will be placing an order tonight!

I spoke with the guy at impaktrc and he recommended a 1512 2.5d for my e-revo 4s setup. Received it today and took it for a blast tonight.

Temp didn't break 140 on the motor after driving for 30 min straight. I'm using a mm with ccbec. I tried a 19t and a 21t. The temp difference was 7 degrees. I cannot believe this motor compaired to my 8xl. I like 21t MUCH better. It was much more driveable on the track.

Glad your happy with your 1512 2.5d but I'm going for the 1515 2.5d. The 1512 is a little smaller than the 1515 and not available in the form of a Tekno neu. Also the 1512 is a little higher kv at 2050 vs 1700. The 1512 is pretty close to an 8xl kv wise but a far superior motor, hope you also have an endbell cover to keep the dirt out of your investment. I wanted the Tekno neu because it is sealel and designed for land use, I did order the 1515 2.5d though, going to gear it 54/20 for now as I already have those gears and if temps are ok I step the pinion up a few teeth if I want some more speed.

did you get anything yet? i have a hacker i've been trying to get rid of? its really a better 6cell motor, but i ran 4cells with it in my lsp and it did pretty well.

Ordered a tekno neu wed night. 1515 2.5d

I may order one too for my erevo, and leave the 1512 for my hyper.

On first impressions, this is one hell of a motor!!! The thing is huge, makes the titans look like the rx280 out of my mini late-model and even dwarfs an 8xl! fit in finish is top notch (had better be for the $). Looking forward to enjoying my new setup! MMM, 1515 2.5d, 4S 6A lipo, dx3r/sr3100 = fun

sounds nice ..anxious to hear how you like it

Well I ran a pack through the monsters today(MMM/1515 2.5d/f) and I'm pretty happy with it so far. Waiting on my 25t pinion from Mike so I can really see what this setup can do. Running 54/20 currently and I have to hold it WOT pretty much all the time, only geared for about 33MPH, when I get that pinion I'll have options to go from 33-43MPH as long as temps allow me. I ran for 15 minutes in tall grass, no cooling holes in body, and no extra fans. I had 157* on the motor, 121* on the MMM, and 125* on Lipos. I'm hoping I can gear this up a little more and not increase motor temp much, with higher gearing I won't be full throttle so much. The fan never had to run on the MMM and it everything was super smooth. After a minute or two of running I found that it will still hang big wheelies. This setup is much smoother than the V1 MMM/8xl that I had ran in it 2 months ago. Only complaint with the v2MMM is the switch, if there's going to be a switch I think it should have a spot to mount it on the esc, I may wind up just gluing it on there.

rootar 08.23.2008 03:49 PM

actually when you gear up the motor temps will go down (to a point) but the esc temp will rise, id keep an eye on thoose lipos you dont wanna see more than 130 or things could go bad.

E-Revonut 08.23.2008 05:09 PM

ESC temp going up a little wouldn't be horrible, 120* is barely warm. As for the LiPos, I'm starting to understand the poor quality of MA cells, but also krepin mind that the E-REVO has sealed battery compartments for the most part

Further review of Tekno Neu 1515 2.5f/f on 4s

I have ran several packs so far and I'm very pleased! I still have to change the gearing, I did finally get the gear from Mike, just haven't put it in yet. Wheelies on command from a stand still, even flips over without wheelie bar. From a slow roll it will still do the same, this is with my puch control turned up to 80%!!! I have to say I think this motor is morte than adequate and def not dissappointing on 4s, I can't imagine it on 5-6s. I will post more when I re-gear it.
