I'm getting well over 200F on a 5700 on 3s in my pede... I need to play with it but I'm geared too high (18/86) - 55MPH+ and the 5700 can't take that on a pede...

Just a question because that would make the buggy motor a 1512/1Y 2,750 whereas I think you mentioned it would be 2600

Just an observation but this also means you have a big jump from 1515/1Y 2,200 to 1515/1.5Y 1,500...

Yeah, that's true - so we are adjusting length to change Kv instead of windings.

We are working right now on a 1518/1Y that has a Kv of about 1800. So we will end up with 2650, 2200, and 1800 Kv motors.

Wow, more motor choices. Hopefully everything will be ironed out on the MMM so we can maximize the benefit of this ESC/motor combo :intello::intello:.

Ahh so it is more like a 15-1.25, 1.5, 1.8 all 1Y - Thanks for the insight!

That's not right -- any of the CM36 motors will DESTROY an SS5800. There must have been something wrong with the motor you had (shorted winding probably...)

We run 1/10 onroad at over 70mph with CM36 motors, and they stay really cool. (CM36-7700s and CM36-6900s)

Patrick - no disrespect meant by the comment, but I had terrible luck with that motor. I love all the other Castle products and had no problem with the 68xx series of motors or any of the Mamba25, MM, and even the MMM v1 controllers (I have two still running fine on 6S with the BEC and no mods - I've gotten crap stuck in the fan and it still works fine).

I got the 4600 and ran it on 3S and it shot to about 240* in under 2 minutes and nearly puffed the lipos they were so hot.

Needless to say, the motor didn't work for me, but everything else CC has worked fine. :)

Any idea on when the 1512 motors are coming?

SpEEdyBL 09.05.2008 08:46 PM

Sounds like Castle is putting a lot of thought into these motors. Maybe I'll just stick with a 1Y after all. I'll probably end up moving up from 4s eventually, lol.

DRIFT_BUGGY 09.05.2008 09:36 PM

Well why don't Neu make D and Y winds in the same KV rating? 2.5 D or Y - 3.0 D or Y?

BrianG 09.05.2008 09:55 PM

Because motors can be wound in half turn increments (1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, etc) but the kv of a D is 1.73X that of a Y of the same turns.

Now THAT is the motor I want in my 1/8 buggy and my emaxx!

bdebde 09.05.2008 10:15 PM

That 1518 sounds perfect! I want one!

JeffEmbracedDC 09.05.2008 10:45 PM

1518 sounds great for an e-revo or other monster truck.. maybe even a truggy .. but for a buggy the 1512 is really ideal.. Anything else and you're just wasting battery power making your runtimes shorter. That's assuming their motors will be comparable to Neu motors...

Patrick claimed the castleneu's would be at least as good (efficient/powerful? can't remember what word he used) as the current heli neu's. I hope he's right :)

If that's the case and they're as powerful as the current neu motors.. a 1512 is definitely ideal for a buggy. I hope they offer something around 2500kv in a 1512 size for us 4s buggy guys :)
