V1, stock firmwear, low timing, 30% brakes, 12.0 cutoff. I have run it with a 1515/1y on 4s in a Tekno Revo, 8ight-T and LST2. Never changed settings, never disconnect motor wires, never look at it wrong. Just move it from truck to truck and race with it. Probably has 12-15 race days on it. No mods; fan still blowin'!

Mad Max 09.16.2008 10:51 AM

My V1 still works perfectly, now with V1.19 firmware, no mods at all

The only thing that broke was the fan, that recently lost one of the blades.

V1 here running 1.17, Neu 1512 2.5D, 4s ~4800mah, in a 1/8 buggy geared for about 45mph. The V1 had its fan removed, but is running the internal BEC.

sleebus.jones 09.16.2008 01:01 PM

I have 1.17 in mine, 10XL 6S A123, all stock. Hyper 7 geared 14/46 No problems, except breaking/failing about 6 fans.

DickyT 09.16.2008 04:21 PM

My rc buddy THA5150 who comes on here every so often still has a working V1 with the 1.19 firmware. Ours arrived the same day back in .. what was it? march? lol

suicideneil 09.16.2008 06:09 PM

My V1 is still alive and kicking, running on 6s2p of A123 cells, fan still A-OK, no mods, refuses to die despite stuffing it full of grass and stalling the fan for an entire run.

My v1 MMM with 1.17 firmware with the case modded to allow a bigger fan is still going strong! :mdr: Lots of runtime too...

Yup. Using the internal BEC. I also have a v2 that is holding up pretty well, but I am just going to keep using the v1. After the abuse I put it through and if it is still going strong, no need to mess up a good thing. I am going to add a cap to it to take a little pressure off since I don't have a fan on it.

For those that care about setups:

RC8
V1 MMM (top of case cut off completely, no fan)
1512 3d and 1515 2.5d
5s 4000 Zippys
Dx3r w/ Receiver
Geared for about 35-42 mph depending on track

blueb8llz 09.16.2008 07:26 PM

mine still works running 4s and the v3.051 castle software

rabosi 09.16.2008 08:44 PM

My v1 is also still working. Was one of the first day CC sell off. Stock setting and firmware except 30% brake. Has not seen much action recently but used heavily initially on 4s, 5s & 6s w/neu 1515/1y. Also used for 60+mph run on emaxx. Incidentally I also have another v1 from the rc-monster order that's still new (in case the first one didn't last).

finfin 09.17.2008 03:04 AM

my v1 is still running in Maxx, 6s 4000mah, spur 65t pinion 22t, 8-9XL feigao, ext. bec, and firmware 1.17. Dunno when it will die?

DRIFT_BUGGY 09.17.2008 04:15 AM

Wasn't sure to update the firmware incase that was one of the problems.

My Setup:
8IGHT - 13T/46T - 1512 2.5D/F - Standard Firmware - Ext. Bec - 5S 5000mah

Anyone know the difference between 1.17 and 1.19?
Going by the website 1.18 was a stuff up with the LVC and 1.19 was to fix it but what is the difference in the 3?

Dear Mamba Monster Owner,

Thank you for purchasing a Mamba Monster controller. We are very excited about this new product and we sincerely feel it will surpass your expectations. We have identified a software problem with the initial build of the V2 Monsters.

WHAT: The software bug affects the low voltage cutoff. The cutoff works fine as long as the controller is operating below 1/3 throttle when the cutoff voltage is reached. If the controller is operating above 1/3 throttle, the low voltage cutoff will not function until the controller is commanded to go to a lower throttle setting. This may allow users to run their battery packs below the recommended voltage and harm their batteries. NOTE - We always recommend that you should "time" your runs with LIPO batteries such that you stop using the batteries BEFORE you hit the LVC. Think of it in terms of the airbag in your car. It's nice to have, but you are better off not having to use it.

WHO: This only affects version 1.18 software, and there are only about 50 controllers that were shipped with this version of the software. We have updated all other V2 controllers that were still in manufacturing before they were shipped. The individuals that this update directly affects will be contacted via email or postcard. However, if you are concerned that you may be one of the "lucky" few to receive the Mamba Monster with version 1.18. Please use the USB link kit included with your controller to link the controller and update it to version 1.19. Mamba Monster controllers with ver. 1.17 are NOT affected.
