ill take some after my torture test today... when i get home from my holiday!
here are some dodgy camera phone pics... ill take some better ones tonight. anyway here here they are.... i used a 7mm chopping board and glued them together using 5 minute epoxy (find something else to use as this cracked and split easily. super glue seemed to work muchbetter but is difficult to get right in 2 seconds... i then milled the center out and used a plane + rasp at school to even it down etc... worked out well. then i used a soldering iron to melt tracks for the velcro. on the bottom i used 3 layers of acrylic sheet (d use this same cutting board material when it breaks, at the moment its too brittle! and DONT use aluminium screws, they just snapped when i was screwing into it... took me 5 screws to learn that lesson!!) to make it sit over the side guards... it flexes now but thats better than being solid i guess. i didnt take the battery out cause its a PITA to remove with all the velcro on the bottom!!! anyway i hope this has helped somewhat... http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...09-08_0916.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...09-08_0915.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...09-08_0914.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...09-08_0913.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...09-08_0918.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...09-08_0921.jpg |
ahh it looks nice, i think i might go with the tekno mount, just because i will have more adjustability. i beleive the cen mount by mike is designed for the buggy..

So does your dad have any c-clamps or wood laying around in the garage? Go buy yourself a piece of 3/16 lexan, or Centra at the hobby shop. Measure your battery and mark the width lines on the piece of material (add 1/4" to your measurement - its easier to add material than it is to remove it in this case. Use a straight edge or a square to mark the lines.
Now, if you can, cut a piece of wood to match the width of your batteries. Clamp this onto your piece of plastic. Use a heat gun/hairdryer whatever to heat the material and bend it. Do one side at a time. Another thing - dont use too long of a piece of material and wood. Cut them to about 1" longer than needed in length to start with. Once you've heated it, pick up the whole thing and use the surface of the work bench or even the floor to make the bend. Keep in mind, you might have to try it a few times before you get the hang of it. If you end up using lexan, once it starts to bubble, you've heated it too much! |
we do i just wouldnt think that lexan would be structurally sound..

Yea the CEN stuff has wierd gearing in the diffs... I would do whatever you neeed to do to get rid of that Ferris Wheel 66T center gear. It screws up you gearing choices as well as pushing the battery way out to the side. What I did was replace the front and rear diffs with the Hotbodies 43/10 truggy diffs and then the center spur gear with a normal 46T buggy spur gear. It was a good setup. I took out the spacers that CEN has under the center diff mount that raise it up to work with the stock 66T gear, then the RC-Monster Cen buggy motor mount will work with about a 1/2 or so spacers on the top so the upper chassis brace can bolt on in the stock position. I'm not sure about the exact size of that 1/2" spacer any more. You would have to measure the height of the spacer that goes under the center diff mount and get something the same height for the top of the mount. Not quite sure from memory, and I dont have it any more to measure anything. You can kinda see what I did in this picture. Hope this helped and good luck on the conversion. I was going to suggest the hb truggy diff gears, but did not know if they would fit the cen cups...
That looks like your best bet BB, plusit looks good, and you will have more room and centralized weight with the smaller spur. |
i would need the whole diffs. i only have 80 dollars to my name right now, will be 60 when i ship the warhead.

The HB ring gear fits the Cen dif cup with a little minor dremel work for fittng. I know I had a set on the CEN cups in a matrix buggy for a while. In the truggy I just swapped the entire diff to the HB diff. Either way will work I think.
See if you can pick up a used set of the HB diffs on ebay or something. You should be able to find something for that money. |
what do you consider minor dremel work? i can do it on my schools lathe if neccissary..
