Suddenly I feel not so bad that I have to drive 30 minutes just to have a piece of grass or parking lot to run in. Living in the middle of a city sucks for RC! Even a 1/18 isn't much fun in a city apartment.
Hopefully if life runs its course I will be down near Danbury, CT in the next 6 months and closer to both RCM and the Barn - maybe just in time for next year's bash. :yipi: |

Drift_buggy - What drugs are you on? LOL No offence intended but Feigaos are far from the best. They are cheap and a good motor to start with, that I'll give them. I think most here have started with or at least had one and when they saved up some more $ they bought something better. A medusa is about $30 more and much better quality. Although Neus are expensive they are "the best". I have only seen one report on here of an xl motor running at temps that where below the ragged edge of meltdown, and I bet he had a fan on it! Feigaos are constantly 180+, pretty much any way you gear them they run hot. Now this isn't a total bash on Feigao, they are good for what they are, an inexpensive motor to get started into brushless. As for the vxl motor being Feigao, I haven't seen positive proof that it def is, unless you count my vxl rustler (on 2s geared for 42MPH) running at 185* as proof!

Me want Motor Soon also, Getting the MMM/2200kv For my E-Revo :yipi:,
I agree with e-mike I dont like to tun my trucks on snow, or water (screws get all rusted just not me) |
e-Revo - Search on rc-m and there is confirmation posted by myself from Feigao that they make the motor from Traxxas. Traxxas confirmed it - No harm Feigao are good entry level motors and a S/M can is more than enough for a rustler/pede.
As to the comments by drift_buggy that is sarcasm which American's have a hard time picking up on... Funny for us though - lol... |
guys your so funny. i was wondering what people would reply to his comment, being aussie myself, i got it straight away... some others just dont get it haha.
anyway, id never buy a feigao. its either a $30 throwaway motor from HC or a neu. the $30 do VERY well for short runs and seem to have more power than my neu??? (weird...) but after 5 minutes running up and down the street, its reasonably close to its failure temp.... whereas my neu would barely be warm... but for some dirt thrashing or mud slinging they are perfect. wouldnt waste 90 bucks on a feigao for the same result... and who cares if they dont last as long, im not about to put my neu 1/2 covered in mud am i! |
other than the feigaos being more unreliable and hot temps and so on....how do they compare performance wise? i have a 7xl and im very curious to see what the difference would be vs a neu motor geared for the exact same speed with the exact same lipos and so on. i cant imagine having anymore torque than what i already am recieving with my 7xl.
its already enough. i know you can gear a nue to reach higher speeds, but if i wanted to just be at 45mph and say the feigeo dont run hot...will it be the same in performance then or what? |

Not to fuel any fires, but I have had decent success with feigao motors. I have owned dozens and have had 7xl on 4s setups in mt and buggies run decent temps. Neu motors are superior, no doubt about it. I personally think the castle/neu mtors will put the last nail in the feigao xl's coffin...

I like my feigao 7XL also and also cant imagine any more power. Its just crazy fast. Once you get the novak heatsink on it, temps drop a bunch. Throw a couple 40mm fans and you are good to go for a while. For people in hot climates like me feigaos are not recommended unless you are going to add some type of cooling. Any temps 80 and below with just a heatsink geared resonably and you are ok. Air flow is also a requirement for these motors. I have noticed the smooth can motors just dont do a good job of keeping cool and need help. That being said the CC motors should put them out of business once they arrive. By getting the combo you are basically getting the CC motor for the price of a feigao. Just the added efficiency which will equate to more run time would be worth it.
