i talked to castle today and she said they ran a very small run of v3's and are releasing them to 'test people' if they do good theyre gonna deal with the rest of us guinea pigs
|
ive went thru two mmm's, been tryin since july, and it still sits collecting dust,, maybe the esc gods are gonna be with us for the V3,....

well. I am pleased I will have another opportunity to drive my $2k toy before the snow flies... And I fully plan to do so.. However... The thought of being a beta tester again.. Isn;t to appetizing. I sincerely hope this goes well. If not.. I think I'll be wanting some money back and getting an MGM or something over the winter...

Siggghhh, looks like I'm running this weekend with the old software on my last new V2. |
Great news

My V2 died today. Even running it with a bec didn't save it but it did make it last a lot longer. I just started playing with the esc settings. I cranked up the start power to medium and it was awesome. I was playing with the timing to see if I could see any difference between 0 an 10. It started glitching so I brought it in and switched it off and back on and then nothing.
Oh well it's a good thing the v3 is on its way, at least to some. |
As soon as you guys that posted, you have a MMM v3 comming, take some pictures of the case and let us all know if they have addressed all the issues. Thanks

Well I got a MMM in the mail today from castle. Might be a v3, but it still has the female bullet connectors on the board for motor and batt connections. Looking from the top the fan appears to have more clearance between the blades and the top grille. The brain board is different. The lower case is still not right, the fan plug still touches before the board contacts.
Brain board, note the difference in the Bec circuit, upper left area: http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF2610.jpg Lower case showing imprint of fan plug: http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF2609.jpg Upper case showing some clearance between the fan and the case?: http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF2611.jpg Inside of upper case: http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF2612.jpg In the next 2 pics note how there is a gap between the lower case and the board. i am pressing hard in this pic. Some foam suspension will be required, and I will clearance the case below the fan plug. http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF2613.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF2614.jpg |
Here are some comparison pics between a v2 and the v3 I got today...
From what I can tell, the cases are identical, so I guess CC do not have the new cases yet. IIRC, Patrick did say that they were getting them next week (2 weeks last week). Everything else seems to be identical other than the brain board, which has a few deleted components, and a few new ones. Mainly seems to be confined to the Bec area. More pics showing both v2 and v3: http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF2615.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF2616.jpg |
So here are a few thoughts...
The lower case needs to be different in a few ways. Patrick said that the new cases would have more clearance for the fan plug, and the fan. This should cure a few problems, and give the pcb added support. The fan wire still bothers me, as the ledge on the lower case can trap it between the case and the pcb. The cutout that clears the switch/signal wires need to be extended to clear the fan wires. Those fan wires also need some protection over them too, as they will rub thru under vibration. My V3 also could do with added clearance between the motor plugs and the heatsink. I guess I will bend the fins a bit and add some heatshrink. And I still think that the switch/signal wires need some sort of protection as they exit the case. I opened up the slot and added some heatshrink on my other v2. I will most likely do that to this esc. I plan to swap this new esc into my lst and test it hard. Hope it keeps up! |
Hmmmmm, I think I'll just pot the whole bottom case half when mine comes.

Additional comments:
The brain board is blue. This is so we can tell if the controller is a V2 or a V3 at a glance. There will be some V3 controllers with 6.5mm plugs on the battery side. We got the new cases in TODAY, so they are mailing out cases to people who got the 25 "early" MMM V3 controllers. The controllers all shipped with V3 firmware. The V3 firmware just isn't available on the web yet, because we have to make sure it still works OK with all of the other controllers, not just the MMM. Thanx! Patrick |
Can you plug it into Castle Link and see if the firmware is anything other than version 1.19?
My guess is they are having you test the new hardware on the pcb and firmware (maybe) to see how it holds up in peoples' setups. Meanwhile, they are obviously waiting for the new cases. |
Well, Patrick beat me...
I sure hope that V3 firmware gets updated soon. So, could you also comment, Patrick, on the clearance between the plugs on the motor side and the heat sink? |
