a drop test should be an industry standard..
hold WOT while the truck is in the air then drop it on asphalt... if it doesnt survive it fails... would have stopped me from buying my duratrax raze |
I don't get the mini's, seem too limited to have much fun with, and for $250 you can get a CRT.5 with 1/8 worthy diffs, real dogbones, 7075 chassis and towers, and a much greater potential for fun. The .5s can even run on a 1/8th track.
Seems like one of those fad things. Bunch of people will buy them, play a bit, get bored, then sell them off. Eh, but whatever.. as long as you have fun. |
im pretty sure from every picture ive found it looks to me to be between a crt.5 and a mlst.....
good point about the crt.5 but thats jsut a roller, this will be much cheaper for batteries and it already has brushless for $250, while the crt.5 will need a conversion, motor, speedo, and batts too. and the trend with them is to make them 10th scale.... lol id be super happy for it to run 30mph do crazy wheelies and be durable, do care for any faster with cars that small. |
This sounds very fun. I've got a KB45 XL can laying around, and also a V1 MM tat handles 5s flawlessly. I was thinking of picking up a e-revo for my next project.

Anyone heard any more on these? Traxxas still doesn't have anything on their site.

here are some pictures from the hobby show if anyone is interested. BTW they are also making a mini slash/slayer thing also. http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...0/DSCF0009.jpg

That being said, I'm still on the fence with these trucks. I think they look cool, but I still believe a properly set up vendetta ST or xray m18mt would blow this thing away (performance wise). |

IMO 1/18th scale is useless off road unless you have a purpose built track just for them that in groomed to perfection! I love my CRT.5 but parts availability is an issue. Anything I break I have to order parts and wait. The crt.5 also doesn't do that great on grass because of it's lack of ground clearance, even with 4"+ tires it still struggles. I really want to see just how big this 1/16 REVO is! I miss my rc18t and have been thinking about getting another one. My Micro DT is going for sale, to small, handles like crap, isn't 4wd, and can't even make it over a lead cord, on top of how expensive it is to put a BL setup in it!
|
The truck looks interesting enough...but as stated above, lets see how it holds up to BL power. I personally love the crt.5...I have 2 of them, one for my daughter. If this is truly based on the Revo, which it appears to be, it may be worth while....only time will tell

Indoor carpet tracks with minature golf styled green carpet jumps. No huge amounts of space required and best for winter season in cold areas.

I hope for the best for traxxas, But i don't see many 1/18 trucks being as tough as my Duratrax Mini Quake, Using a golden horizions 4800kv brushless, it would do anything a 1/10 would do and do better
