a 9xl would be better on the 7020 than the 9l would. I have run this combo with sucess.

Not on 20 cells i thought?

VWT4 12.01.2005 05:01 PM

I will run 12 and 14 cells with the 9XL.

Is it a good setup?

coolhandcountry 12.01.2005 05:04 PM

You are right serum. I have not tried on 20 cells. I have run it in my mgt on 14 cells with a full run on the batts the esc will get up to 110. I was going to try 18 but would not fit on the truck.

Serum 12.01.2005 05:22 PM

with 14 cells you should be in the safe zone.

hi
the e zilla has smaller diffs that look like those of the hpi mt2. the gears in the center gearbox look very much like the e maxx stock. i have seen pictures of the open diff and the open gear box.
i would definitely not propose a XL feigao to put in the stock e zilla. i do not own one but i am pretty sure it will not hold up long.
i think your first proposal with the 9L would be much more of an appropriate setup. the 9L is rated with rated at 68A. on accelaration it might easily be more. so with the 7020 you might be very much on the limit. a 9920 would be safer so to say. then maybe you could also think about a 8L.
with 12-14 cells that sounds not bad to me as the e zilla is pretty lightweight.
it is difficult to say what hopups are coming for the e zilla.
as for the savage you can read much here in the forum.

I thought it had planetery diffs, can you remember where you saw those pics?

In that pic i posted i think the tyres next to it are probably the 8" GTX2 tyres,so maybe it's not much smaller than an e-maxx.

poconoblmaxx 12.01.2005 06:22 PM

I agree with rhylsadar 100%. I've seen the zilla in person. A 9l and 9920 on 12 cells would be fine. I think it has plastic shafts so it probably wouldnt hold up to an XL anyway.

coolhandcountry 12.01.2005 06:37 PM

If that is the case the 9xl will destroy the driveline then. I have doubts if it will hold a 9l. I guess what ever you put in the truck let us know if it holds up.

crazyjr 12.01.2005 06:40 PM

The planetary is in the main gearbox the f/r diffs are gear type and look weak. without mods to the TVP's you won't fit anything bigger than S fegaio in truck

squeeforever 12.01.2005 10:57 PM

not sure but if you could figure something out to fit a L can you might want to consider a 10l.

Somebody on another forum fit an L size without any mods, said it was a tight fit, but it fit nonetheless.

I'm also with Serum on this one, I just don't like the truck, it seems like it's a rip-off from the Savage (although they are the same company) and is lower quality.

VWT4 12.02.2005 04:58 AM

The L series fit perfect, are 61mm long vs 63mm stock 550 motor.
