For an EV controller something like 200a 144v would be good. SDHV - Super Duper High Voltage

EHV = Extra/Extreme High Voltage. Rolls off the tongue a bit better. :wink:

That still leaves room for UHV (Ultra/Ultimate High Voltage) for the ~400v setups. :smile:

90v is pretty good on an EV too, but I would limit it to motorcycle or golf cart use. A 24 horse system has pretty good kick.

Too bad the system is out of my price range. It is a lot of cash, especially when I have the 50v plane controllers and some china controllers already sitting here waiting for projects.

There are lots of controller companies out there. Off the top of my head there is curtis and kelly. They are relativly cheap. A 90v kelly 200a was under 300 IIRC.

They are cheap, but much bigger than the castle unit. MUCH! I have a 70v 45a controller here that is cheap too, but it has ridiculously choppy throttle, horrible sensorless commutation, no programming, and is the size of a demi-loaf of bread.


You get what you pay for. Like I said, I have enough controllers sitting around to keep me from splurging on the castle unit. Gotta get my mini bike running again first!

They're not. It would be nice if they made ESCs for the ever popular 3 phase motors though.

That's a lot of $$, even for an EV.. There are cheaper ways to get "ride-on" power..

They has stopped making the zilla...not sure if that is temporary or permanent...

I am building a full size ev car and the curtis controllers seem like the best bet so far. I am using a brushed motor though. According to everything I have read they brushes will last for around 80k miles!
