Very cool.
Nice work as usual. I was just sharing this one with my wife and she even said how much it looks like a real 1:1 vehicle. If you did not know that it was an R/C it could probably fool a lot of people. Great job dude.

Fantastic detail!! You've got some real talent. Very very nice job.

Great work again! I'm with linc on the scuff pad to remove the shine. rust buckets don't shine :P
|
Any of you that think people dont wax a rusty truck have never been to Montana....
GREAT job! I think there are two details missing - a couple dead birds in the grill, and the creased hood - that style of Chev/GMC always had a crease across the hood right where the hinges ended. The springs in the hinge were too stiff, so over time, the hood ended up bent. |
Carcas.

And blood splattered across the windshield..........
Nice attention to detail, definitely one of your finest yet. You could probably sell that on rccrawler.com for a small fortune. Have you ever thought of painting one of the styrene/plastic tamiya bodies? With your skill and attention to detail I don't think it would be a tough transition. |

If it's going to be a shelf queen you could add the deer, but you'll need to crush up the front a bit and others that see it might think you're a sadist  Looks awesome though, what do you plan to put it on (for show)? |
I think all of these are commisions ;-)
With that work Norm you must be queued for months :) |
My teenage daughter would say, "that is beastly" and you have some "mad skills".

as for the blood splattered windshield, he could also jam a scale bicycle under the truck... |

Serious attention to detail going on in that latest shell, Im sure the new owner will love it. |
Thanks guys, really I appreciate it and I kinda wish this was for me but its for one of my race team guys for his CR-01. Like i said this was my first shell like this and it took awhile to make sure the rush would look right. i agree on roughing up the shell but then again i have a hard time wanting to do that. I can easily do better but sometimes like I say, too much is way too much. I copied the rusted look from a real 1:1 truck i found on the internet and added the cracks and window myself along with the bad tint job which is just an adhesive tint from a paperstreetplastics on ebay. As far as the dents go Im going to try it on another truck. I just didnt feel like removing the over spray film and risking a bad heat up and then I would be eating a shell. and as for the styrene and plastic jobbies. I wont do them! Im good at the lexan thing and would rather stick to what I know rather then burn my time up on something unfamiliar. But a friend of mine Nick Rummy is sending me the same shell to do for him and well try something a little different and try and go a step further this time. Ohh and yeah I am pretty booked up with jobs, I dont mind taking them if people are willing to book a job and wait but sometimes I get people asking me for paintwork and they never like my prices or the time until I finish. I pride myself on releasing a good product that will last a long time, not a cheap product that results in bad mouthing my work. So I am off to paint another shell here which shold be released in the next few days. stay tuned to the Canadien berzerker a.k.a. Wolverine

No offense, but I'll never be buying a shell from you. You said you pride yourself on making a good product that will last a long time, but the way I drive, the second part won't ever happen. It would be a shame to wreck something that nice within 10 seconds of plugging the battery in.
Although, if I ever make a shelf queen, I'll look you up. |
Painting styrene shells isnt so bad- its just like painting a lexan shell, only on the outside! The beauty (as I found) is that if you cock-up, you can just go over the mistake, and start again- 300 grit sandpaper removes all sins...
I kinda prefer painting the outside really, as its much the same as normal painting- do the background first, then onto the details and highlights; working in reverse order like when doing lexan shells is very alien to me. |
