On flat pavement this will not flip, even at WOT, due to air flow. If there is uneven pavement and the front gets lifted slightly it will take off like no ones business. On a big, wide open, smooth car park I can do full throttle runs all day without flipping. If I try the same on the road outside my house I'll get to 3/4 throttle and it'll hit something, lift the front and flip so violently it'll do a full backflip before hitting the ground again.
I run diff lock grease in the rear of this, as I have heard about the weakness in the planetary gears of the VXL diff. Haven't had it let go yet but when I finally get a decent controller and motor and up the voltage i got a feeling it will. My theory is that the Slash should be better for speed runs when correctly set up, what with the extra length. Bit more stability at speed. It's just reigning in the shonky aerodynamics of all the bodies produced for it. Quote:

I do like the thundertech chassis. I have one for a pede project and it is quite nice.
as far as lowering and limiting the stock suspension on the slash, a decent pair of on road car shocks (not nitro 4 tec shocks, they suck) would limit movement and allow for a really slammed stance... I am looking for some beadlocks as we speak... Time for me to start another new project!:lol: |
Hmmm the Epic's are good, but I'm considering getting some STRC alloy rings to go on them. They are a mm thicker for a tighter grip and much lighter. Plus you can get them in Monster green lol.

I'm not sure how the Axial lockers work, the Epics only have one beadlock ring per wheel which puts equal pressure on both sides. They fix with six bolts. I can tell you that the Epic rings are 6cm in diameter and the bolts on opposite sides of the wheel are just about 5cm apart if that helps.
The Epic wheels have the correct offset for the Slash though, that's why I went for them. |
