Thanks for your help tonight! I was undecided on what motor to get up until this point. I know I want something good. I had a Tekno Neu 1.5d in my E Revo with a MM and a cooling fan. I would still always thermal the MM. I do not want any issues with heat or efficiency with the slash. What a nice upgrade this will be from the stock setup......

Just so you have an idea of what your getting.....I run a 4800kv version of that motor in a CRT.5. That's a bit heavier than a slash and the 4wd puts more load on the motor, I even run slash tires on it! I have it geared for about 38 and even on an 90* day I haven't gotten motor temps over 130* I had a vxl rustler vith the vileneon motor geared for about 40 on 2s and I couldn't touch the motor after a run!

You know of any videos of a slash with the Medusa and 2s or 3s??

Wow very impressive!

I don't know of any videos off hand. Don't worry about the help...That's what we are all here for!

I know. I am a owner/administrator on another R/C forum, I know how it goes. Nice to run into good, helpful, knowledgeable people on other forums too!

Skellyo is running a Medusa in a slash but he went crazy! He's running a 60mm 2000kv version on 4s I beleive! He has a thread "slightly overpowered slashes", I think that's the title, not sure if he has any video. The setup he's running can and has powered an E-REVO!!!

little piece of advice, get a revo 40 tooth spur and buy a mod1 from mike and loose the gear cover the stock 48 pitch stuff wont last long with brushless.

Never had a problem with mine! As long as the mesh is set right and you keep the cover in place they should hold up for awhile. Going to Mod1 gearing greatly limits your available gearing!

how is that, i can gear mine anywhere from 35 to 65 with mod1 gearing..... 3s lipo 2700kv motor, you can gear down to 12/40 with mod1.... but then agian im using slightly smaller tires...and a lower kv motor

E-Revonut 02.16.2009 12:54 AM

enlighten me as to where you can find a 65t Mod1 gear that will fit the slipper! A Mod.8 maybe. Not to mention that there is limited room between the input shaft of the transmission and where the motor shaft is. A 65t mod.8 gear is pretty large and would take up almost all that space.

My advice is to stick with what he has, if he has trouble with that he can change to a different setup. I like the age old saying of if it ain't broke, don't fix it! I upgrade as I break things.

rootar 02.16.2009 12:55 AM

if he gets the 3300 medusa with 5mm shaft he can run the mod1 gearing and gear from 35 and up

rootar 02.16.2009 12:57 AM

35mph* to 65mph*

rootar 02.16.2009 01:03 AM

well our tracks have lots of fine sand and tiny slate rock chips that reak havoc on gears weather they have a cover or not... ive seen a ton of stripped 48 pitch gears and most have upgraded to atleast 32 pitch with jato spurs if not the revo spur and mod1 im running, the mod1 gearing will NEVER gobad its eat and spit out rocks and sand all day no problems which is what we need around here...
