Yah, dual BL is no doubt overkill. I am doing it for a few reasons. First and foremost is a little thing called sibling rivalry. My brother has a brushless Mini-T that was clocked @ 48mph with a radar gun. Really the only way for me to get around him is to run him over.....he doesnt like that.
So, a single BL would only leave me with what, say, 40-45mph? I know that a dual set-up is not going to be much faster than that but, hopefuly a tick or two faster than he is going. If not then....Ill run him over again. |
duel on 28 cells should get u in the low 50's
single on 28 should get u in the high 50s and low 60s on a light truck correct me if im wrong though:) |
I am no expert but, I believe there is no single motor that can handle 28cells. A single 9L can handle up to 14cells. Since I will be running 2 of them, there will be 28cells total.
|
There are motors that can handle the cell counts you are speaking of. Of course, you don't need 28 cells to go 50mph either (it has been done on 12 cells and a single brushless). LiPo technology makes it that much easier (weight savings+voltage). You should be able to get over 50mph with a single 9L. Now I guess you have to build another e-maxx!
|
i never knew you ciould go 50mph just on 1 9l?
|
I almost went the LiPo route and a single BL but, I have too many dang battery chargers and batteries, I didnt want to start over. So I figured hey, there is another spot for another motor so, why not put one there.
My E-Maxx is more of a streetqueen/show-piece than an off-roader, Ive got my T-Maxx for that. :) |
i see.

Make sure we get some pictures! :)
|
yes, please . :)
|
mike, what do you think a 33.6 volt (equivalent to 28 NIMH) lipo powered single BL go?
|
How fast do you want to go!? This would be pretty rediculous to say the least.
|
Promod and Lipomaxx have both played with similar voltages. I know promod has been over 70 mph in an e-maxx!
|
70mph, if only i saw a videoclip of one of those babies.

Mike,
Got the CF chassis in today. Thanks! That is some fast shipping. It looks awsume. Going to go and put it together right after this. Now just wating for the motors which should be here within the next week or so. |
Congrats on the CF G-Maxx Purchase..You won't be disappointed.
Anyhow..Some of those XL motors from Feiago, Hacker and the 22 series and the 28 series of the Lehner Motors can handle 28+ cells. My favorite is the Plettenberg Bolido 24-30 Cells for 1:5 scale cars. |
