Could we get bearings on the diff to carry the output shafts? That might remove some of the wobble and make them run more true. I'd love to see a HPI, Losi, AE, etc. diff style done up in aluminum with a steel gear for the Rustler (spider gears > planetary gears). I voted Yes if less than $40, but as I thought about it I would pay much more IF it was 1) Sealed to keep the oil in and 2) toughened up the internals to handle more power.
The Rustler is a 25 year old RC, Traxxas has changed a lot of things in that time but there are still some shortcomings to the design that haven't been addressed yet. IMO they should do a complete overhaul of the design, but it would be unlike Traxxas to do something other than drop old parts onto a sorta new platform and market it as "all new." It was never designed to handle the kind of power even a VXL can put out, not to mention the more powerful motors some of us are running. |
Let's get more votes guys! I want my diff cup! :yipi:

Yeah, I don't they'd be too keen on tooling a product for ~30 people.

PUT ME DOWN FOR A DEFINITE YES!
the stock grease comes completely out after 5 runs...:whip: (if not less) I'll take 3 please! |
FYI, I just added 10 to the poll to account for people who want more than 1, but can only vote once.

I voted for under $60 origionally, but I'd pay pretty much anyting reasonable for one. I just recently started driving my rustler on 4S with a 36-60-2000 medusa and first ate the planetary gears then the plastic diff.
I would like a whole FLM trans setup (or RCM if one was avalible). I think I'm going to change to a 36-50-3300 medusa because replacing diff parts every couple runs sucks. On the other hand though the 60mm motor in the rustler is crazy. -Brian |
