There's no problem with the centre diff wearing anyway, the problem is the little spider gears in the F/R diffs. I never had a breakage of ring or pinion. I was running a mamba 25 combo - the 4600kv or 4800kv or whatever) and rhino 1000mah 3s lipo. it was pretty much guaranteed to shred one of the diffs every time I ran it.

Try doing the spring washer mod on the F/R diff. I modded my read viscous diff with bigger washers to replace the weak original washer. This mod caused the bevel gears to be pressed tight against the spider gears. The diff action isn't as loose as before. It is rather gritty and tight but it doesn't seem to affect handling much. I had the mlst on brushless and did this mod when I first got it. Since then it has been almost 1.5 years and the spider gears hasn't broke once. I did a check on the diffs 2 weeks back but it seemed that they have been worn out quite a bit. They look like they will give way anytime soon. The viscous metal ring and pinion gears are pretty much worn out as well. But not bad considering I run 2 or 3 packs through it every weekend. |
That's good to hear, I just didnt have the same luck, I tried that mod along with many others. I nearly to totally customized it to run the mini inferno full metal sealed diffs, but realised at that point I'd spent about a grand trying to make this truck a little bit better than piss weak and had no luck, no I'll just wait for the mini-revo. Traxxas seem to have a knack for building their cars tough. I've never broken anything on any my revo or rustler. Traxxas pwnz losi :p

5100KV Can diameter: 28mm Can length: 35mm The only down side to it is its current draw. It can draw over 40A under very hard acceleration with a 28T pinion on a mini-lst. But that is only momentarily. |
